John's Barge Intro Message
[ Shortly after arriving, this message will show up on your communicator: ]
Hello,
This is John. Hopefully, either I or Hythlodaeus have come to talk to you about where you are and how things work around here, but I still wanted to send this message to make sure you know the important things just in case.
Basic Info
- this ship is alive and called the Barge, run by a being known as the Admiral
- you got here by dying in your timeline; you're dead
- you're what's called an 'inmate' and the people here to help you are called 'wardens'
- wardens get paid by getting a deal, which is a wish granted by the Admiral that can be almost anything
- you regain your life by graduating here and either become a warden yourself, going back to your world and life, or building a new life in another world of your choosing
- graduating is about finding a new way to live that doesn't cause as much harm as the old way did
- just 'behaving' for a while will not get you graduated; you actually have to make a change
Weird Shit
- no one dies permanently here; wardens come back automatically and inmates come back when it's safe to revive them; you feel like shit for a week after it happens but then you're physically fine
- sometimes people just fall asleep for weeks at a time; it's called a barge coma
- sometimes people just disappear from here and no one knows where they go; sometimes it's back to a timeline where they *didn't* die, and sometimes they just leave for a while and sometimes they never come back
- 'floods' are when weird shit happens to us on board
- 'breaches' are when the whole place changes and it and we all change to be something different
- we do stop sometimes at port; you can go off the ship with your warden's permission
Supplies and Resources
- food - dining hall (first floor; meal times) and commissary (sixth floor; shifts) or my cabin door (213; any time)
- health and wellness - infirmary and counseling (second floor), gym (fourth floor)
- clothes - wardrobe (sixth floor)
- showers - inmate bathrooms (third floor)
- entertainment - library (fifth floor), art gazebo (deck), and pool (upper deck)
- alcohol - lounge (upper deck - warden item locked), speakeasy (behind mirror in inmate showers; ask an inmate for the password, etc. since no wardens allowed there)
- repairs - maintenance (seventh floor)
- zero - bottom floor; holding cells that nullify special abilities; people get put there for up to a week if they can't be stopped from hurting people any other way
Starting Out Here
- you should have a communicator; it's either on you or in your room
- all communicators have their own number that's unique to them including yours
- communicators have voice to text and text to speech so if you can't read, I can show you how to do that
- your room will be behind a door you recognize
- if your room is insufficient or you hate it, it can be changed within minutes; please do not stay with a shitty room you don't sleep in WE CAN FIX IT
- if you had powers, they're going to be greatly reduced and won't be able to hurt/control/manipulate others anymore
- if you feel unsafe, B in the Vet offices (second floor) has alarms that buzz people to come help to help you and/or you can just call for me (John) for help
- until you get a warden assignment, your wardens are myself and Hythlodaeus; call us if you need anything
- that includes personal items from home JUST ASK PLEASE
- you probably have a job assignment; if you don't like it, we'll try and get you a different one you do like, just ask
- don't smoke near the greenhouse; it upsets the bees
- there's no money here so if you need something just go to the place and ask for it
Warden/Inmate Things
- wardens have what's called a 'warden item' (all of them are different) which gets them into certain areas; it also can tell them where their inmate is at all times and tells them when/if their inmate dies
- temporary wardens can't get powers back for you
- temporary wardens don't get a file; permanent warden assignments get a file detailing information about you
- pairings are announced twice a month, with temporary pairings happening once a month
- wardens keep a book called the 'warden ledger' in our conference room with a page for every inmate; if you want us to write something in there for you so most wardens know about it, let us know
- if you want to get to the upper deck areas, you'll need a warden item; most of us will just let you in there; it's not a big deal
- all the weird shit happens to wardens AND inmates; sometimes it happens to us in pairs
Other
- I don't sleep so call me however any time you need to
- people are here from all different universes so unless someone has a reason to be fucking with you they're probably just speaking from their own experience which might be different from yours
- someone just being something (vampire, werewolf, whatever) is not a reason to attack them and if you do that is a problem
- there's a guide with more info in the library
- wardens can't send you home; this is still a prison. Sorry.
- time doesn't pass while you're here so you can go right back to where/when you came from if that's important to you
- deals are real and the Admiral does pay if there's something you need before you could ever start a life
- any other questions just reply back to this
