Dear LiveJournalers,
My name is Pricilla Sibuvel. I have been fundraising in the walk for farm animals for four years.
After recently moving to Rhode Island I found there to only be one walk, and it was very far from my house.
I decided to take matters into my own hands and coordinate my own walk.
I emailed the national walk director and got permission.
A permanant place and time is not set up, but we are looking at October 1st, at Slater park in Pawtucket.
You do not have to live in RI to participate, there aren't a lot of walks areound, so anyone who can be here (Mass, Conneticut or anywhere) is welcome to join us!
Every year Farm Sanctuary hosts the walk for farm animals. People collect pledges (one set pledge rather than most per mile pledges). The money goes to rescuing abused and otherwise tortured animals. Walkers collect prizes and have a good time!
In 2004 forty cities hosted walks, with over 1,500 people taking to the streets with a message of compassion. Earning over 100,000 dollars.
I have participated in the phoenix walk for four years and last year our walk ranked second as the most succesful walk.
We want to make Rhode Island that walk this year!
We are planning on getting some media, local news and possibly the newspaper.
Walk pictures will be displayed on the walk website, so anyone under eighteen will have to have a media permission slip (email for a printable version) signed by their legal gurdian.
The regestration fee is $10 which include your 2005 walk t-shirt.
Anyone looking for printable pledge forms, registration forms, media forms and any questions or comments should post here or email me at tysgirl263@aol.com
