I am considering attending Gordon in the fall. Does anyone know anything about the fencing team?

Hi, I just sent in my deposit to Gordon Wednesday morning and I'm really excited.. I'm double majoring in music ed. and english, probably end up minoring in english because music education will be insane.
I have some questions.. feel free to answer all or none.
Does anyone know when I'll find out my room assignment/roommate?
Also, does anyone on campus horseback ride/is there a barn nearby?
Do you like Gordon?
Thoughts on La Vida? I'm thinking of doing it the summer after my freshman year...
I don't mean to be the annoying high school senior posting in your community--just wondering :)

Hello fellow Gordonites,
I'm transferring to Gordon this fall as a junior and I have a few questions about the sort of people you all are. I'm a tad nervous about fitting in, which is probably normal, but I was hoping this might alleviate some of my worries. So anyway, on to the questions.
1. Do people at Gordon mostly listen to Christian music or are there a lot of people who think secular music is ok? For the most part, I listen to weird, obscure, eclectic secular stuff and I'm curious as to whether people at Gordon would have similar tastes or be "put off" by my music because of either content or the way it sounds. I mean, I don't listen to total smut, but I'm not one to make sure an album is completely "blemish free". To give you some examples of bands/musicians I'm into, I like David Bowie (my absolute favorite), Jeff Buckley, Beck, Belle and Sebastian, Cake, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, Scissor Sisters, Pink Floyd and T. Rex.
2. What do people do for fun on/near campus? I don't know the area very well.
3. Is there a good way to meet new people at Gordon? (Especially for the quiet-until-I-get-to-know-you types, like myself.)
4. How is public transportation?
5. Is there anything you think I should know about life at Gordon College that I didn't ask about? I thought I had other questions but I'm drawing a blank...
Answers to any of these questions would be much appreciated. I look forward to being a part of this LJ community. Thanks!

There's a revival going on in Japan my friends...and both God and the enemy know of it...I'm not there to experience it myself, but many of my friends are. One of my close friends is one of the leaders for a group called HiBA (highschool born againers) at my school, and in other places as well...they have camps every summer for international kids as well as for the japanese highschoolers. There's been a lot going on recently with the group...many of my friends and aquantances from school who i thought would never become christians have come to the Lord, and are activley involved in reaching out to others...anyway, here's a letter from my friend that i recieved, telling you a little bit about what's going on...i hope you can join me in prayer for the spread of Christianity in a place where less than 0.7% are christians...a country that has otherwise been very hard to reach... Thanks!
Revival Camp...
There is so much stuff going on...so much spiritual warfare...In the
past few weeks I have seen people get healed; I have seen high school
kids being transformed and cry out to God for this nation. Last week
I saw two campers in my cabin give their lives to the Lord. I have
also seen more spiritual warefare than I have ever seen before. Im
talking about direct spiritual attacks from the enemy...visible,
tangible full-out attacks. We have seen somer really really crazy
stuff happen. We SERIOUSLY need prayer. This is huge. I myself am
in need of a lot of prayer. I feel like I am getting the brunt of the
attack. I cannot really explain to you what I am experiencing but I
just need your prayers and God's power.
Im attaching an email that my friend and co-worker wrote:
Hi all,
This may seem like a very random e-mail, but I felt led to write you
(sorry for the mass e-mail). I am at HiBA camp and amazing things are
happening. God is moving greatly and Japan is on the edge of revival. I am
asking you to pray for HiBA camp and the campers and the staff and for
revival to begin. I am asking you to really commit yourselves to prayer
this week. Please, at the very least, ask God if this is what He wants you
to do, and if He says yes, then do it! This is the first night of the
second camp of HiBA, and already God has met us as we worshiped Him. We
prayed for the presence of God to fall on the room and that He would cleanse
our hearts and reveal Himself to us. We prayed that God would show us His
plans and His dreams for us and He did that. God is moving greatly. Lets
not be caught on the side lines. The seeds of revival are being planted and
hearts are being changed and the Enemy is frightened, because he knows that
if God continues to work as He is, and we continue to let God work in us and
give us His heart, that the walls of Japan are going to come down! Much
that is going to happen in Japan is being conceived right now in these young
peoples' hearts and lives.
PLEASE PRAY! Join with us in this. Grab other believers and ask them to
pray with you. Gather together and pray, be united in prayer. Please share
this with others around you and ask other to pray. I usually do not like to
e-mail during camp and it is usually wearing on my energy to do so, but I
feel that this is important enough to e-mail daily. I will do my best to
write and inform you how you can pray specifically.
For now, please pray that God will prepare all of our hearts (campers and
staff alike) for what we are going to learn and what God is going to show
us.
May God strengthen you for this task.
Expecting great things from the Lord,
Caleb

Hey all. Its Katy up at white mountain ranch! Im emailing you all so that you
can keep us in your prayers. This week we ended up loosing 5 staff members who
were committed to working this summer. We have some major camp needs and we
would all really appreciate your prayers or any suggestion on who we could ask
to help work.
Our needs for this summer at the moment
4 guy councilors
4 girl councilors
3 nurses
female head councilor
kitchen staff
a few more bodies for the horses
1 teen camp speaker.
Its clear someone is not happy about the ministry but with that knowledge we
know that means great things will happen at camp this summer. We have the
great responsibility of being able to tell many kids about Christ who have
never heard about anything religious.
If you know of any one who could volunteer their time ( whether it be 1 week
to 8 weeks) please contact me asap or call the office at 603-786-9504
also feel free to forward this request to any believer you know who could
blanket this place in prayer!
I pray you are all doing well and i will see you all later!
~Katy
