gooboy 😟bored

am I really at work?

I am sooo itching to watch Ghostbusters.  It's been years since I have sat and watched it beginning to end.  Imma need to add it to my iPod tonight.  Listen to it in the car, at least.  The new game getting released in 2009 started that itch.  There are new rumors spreading regarding the long gestating Ghostbusters 3.  Apparently some of the Office writers are on board working with Judd Apatow to get it off the ground.  Bill Murray, who has long been the reason a new Ghostbusters would not be made, said that after doing the voice work for the game he missed the character and would like to revisit it, if the script were any good.  This is good news, but I just don't think it will be the same.  They have talked for years about doing a handing of the torch movie (to tell you how long that idea has been around, the original script for this was written for Chris Farley and a then unknown Ben Stiller to step in).  Now with Apatow involved, you can probably bet it will be Rogen, Hill, Rudd and maybe Craig Robinson as the token black guy.  My issue with this is, they are going to mirror Peter, Egon, Ray and Winston...but in reality, would anyone really hire another Peter Venkman?  I mean, seriously.  Wouldn't you really only want to hire Rays and Egons?  I know this is the stupidest and nerdiest thing to be concerned about, and I will save my Goo Rage for when it really happens...but I just don't see it working.  They should just do what I have been saying for years, and what they are kinda doing with the game.  Completely CGI movie with the original voices. If they can make Beowulf look pretty good, imagine how much ass they could kick making a balls out Ghostbusters 3!! That's my thought on that....

So I think I bragged last month that I was done Xmas shopping.  Well, as usual, we have continued to shop.  I openly admit, I am bad with money around Xmas time.  All year I have been great...even kept to my New Years Resolution of not buying DVDs at all. (minus a few for KGB, but those are just essentials)  BUt when it comes to gift giving I am freaking AWFUL!!  I did buy something kinda for me last night, but really, the main motivator was K-La.  My dad said this year he was just gonna send us $350 to spend on the family however we like.  Well, for the longest time I have wanted to get K a new TV.  When we first got custody we bought her one of those 10" TV/DVD combos, and that was fine then. Now she always has friends over, and being a 14 year old girl spends lots of time in her room, and her room is twice the size of what it was in Chicago.  She deserves something bigger.  So, what I came up with was to buy a 32" LCD Costco had for $400, put that in the study that we all watch, bring the 28" LCD from the study into our room, hand down the 20" tube TV we had in our room  to K, and then KGB inherits K's TV/DVD combo.  Everybody wins!  I do like having the LCD in the bedroom... and having a new DVD player (oh yeah, we bought that too) that doesn't give us crap like our old one did.  It was an expensive, but fun, night.

KGB turns 2 on Friday! I can't believe that!!  We aren't doing anything major, cuz he is 2 and has no idea what's going on.  We have a few friends coming over Wednesday to celebrate.  We are gonna put up party decorations.  I am gonna make my Lou Malnatti's style deep dish pizza, and Twisty is going to bake a cake that looks like a Blue's Clue paw print.  Should be a good time.  I am just excited to have Wednesday off with Twisty.  Those are the greatest days.

So, Dark Knight is coming out on DVD & Blu Ray Tuesday.  Apparently the Blu Ray will have this new Blu Ray Live feature, where you can get all sorts of new streaming features if you hook your player up to the internet.  Kinda neat.  The coolest feature is you can make a video commentary and share it with friends and family.  I think this is a feature you will see lots of stars and directors utilize.  I myself, am considering getting one just so everyone can have the pleasure of watching The Dark Knight with me , no hold barred.  Sonar?   Really?
But it really is a neat idea.  I think there will be a huuuuge community of MST3K wanna-bes out there.  Riffing will be the new YouTube.
Oh, and I will keep this short, but if I have to start seeing headlines again speculating that Heath "I'm too cool to read pill bottles" Ledger will get an Oscar nod for his role of some unknown Batman villain (he was NOT the Joker),  I will beat somebody to death with my Harley Quinn Real Doll.
I have been getting some fanboy rejuvenation lately, thanks to the beauty of comic book piracy. (still have no idea how I missed the boat on this.)

I have started reading Y:The Last Man, which I am enjoying immensely..however I am concerned that the rumors regarding Shia LeQueef playing Yorik in the motion picture may be true, and then I will cry.  I also read Hush pt one and two.  Hush pt one would have not been as good if it wasn't penciled by Jim Lee. Proof of this was Hush pt 2.  It was gawdawful and the shitty art did not save it.  I also finally fnished downloading every GI Joe comic from 1982-2003.  I know this may sound lame to some, but the comic really was great, and I heard it actually got better when it went over to Image Comics. I also got Grant Morrison's Animal Man, which looks lame, but so many people raved about it I figure I will check it out.  I got All Star Superman, which is good, but I am not doing back flips like I was hoping.  I even re-read some Joker classics like Arkham Asylum and Killing Joke... I challenge someone to read those and then tell me Heath Ledger did a great job.  If you can do that, then you are a great liar.  Anyone else have any recommendations for me?  I am not going to try and get involved in X-Men again, cuz that would take years to get caught back up...but if you know any one-shots, mini series, separate entities etc shoot them my way.

Well, I guess I should stop with the babbling.  I am at work, and sadly, this whole post has been typed with zero interruptions.  To not have one customer bother me on a Saturday for this long is very pathetic.  Stupid economy.
