U2 wrote a song about getting your period in church
Sometimes a lazy do-nothing Sunday is in order. Today is one of those. I did get a little writing done (stress on the word little...ugh) and placed an ad on Facebook going out to anyone that has "comic books, reading comic books, sci fi books, superheroes or batman" in their profile. We shall see how that goes. I am paying per click, with a maximum of 6 clicks a day. It may not seem like much but everything I have read ffrom people that have advertised on Facebook say they very rarely get clicks. Hell, other than to get Twisty's WHAT WOULD DEXTER DO T-shirt I have never clicked one. It is more about getting the nameout there. If no one clicks, that's fine. As long as they are seeing it. I am also considering putting the PDF file of the book on the site for free download. I have resigned to the fact that in this economy the book is not going to make me enough money where I can stop working. Why not get it out there to more people and hope it finds the right person eventually. Maybe Memoirs won't get published, but I wouldn;t complain if someone paid me to write the sequel. Or maybe Showtime or HBO will decide to make it a series. hahaha. I'd even settle for FX. They can swear can't they?
I booked my flight for Chicago in April. Tattoo Tom (yes, Tattoo Tom from the book is actually a real person) is getting married and he asked me to be there. I will only be in Chicago for less than 2 days, one of which will be spent in lovely Kankakee at a wedding. I wish it could be longer, but we are hoping to take a cruise in May, so I probably shouldn't push it with the free time at work. Besides, I will get homesick pretty damn quick. I hate flying alone.
Other than that, not much is going on. I am on Day 6 of my "De-Fatify Drew" campaign and doing well with that. 300 calories every 3 hours starting at noon with 400-500 calories at 9:00. If I end under 1400 I am happy. I need to get in cruise shape, dontcha know. But goddammit I want nachos and a sundae.

Who doesn't love Daddy Day?
Day one of my two days off in a row was fantastic. I started it off by finishing Chapter One of Manifesto of an Antihero while still in bed. Woke up with KGB and Twisty and enjoyed choco chip pannycakes. After playing all morning we got the boy down for a nap, got Kayla to keep an ear out for him and headed off with Twisty to finish Xmas shopping. The rest of the day was spent lounging about, setting up the new home theater system to go along with the new TV and new Blu Ray player. Watched Star Trek (which we thoroughly enjoyed) and then I ran out and got some crappy oven pizzas from Walgreens. I was craving them and even though I know we do not need them we were both pretty good and ate just a lil bit. I really need to start concentrating on my weight, but that won’t be until the new year. I just can’t be good during the holidays (I mean seriously, how am I expected to lose weight when I am married to such an incredible baker? Damn her…)
So yeah, we then ended the day with the second to last episode of Dexter (Oh my god, I don’t want it to end ever). Pretty good day.
As far as the book goes, I really have to get my writing legs back under me. I am pleased with the first chapter but I am sure it will get some severe touch ups once I get rolling again. Hell, the first four chapters of Memoirs got a total face lift once I finished the whole thing. But for now, it is a great jumping off point. It is a whole different beast from the original. Lots of action and funny dialogue right off the bat. I really missed the characters and love being back in their world again.
Well, not much else to report here. Vacation in less than two weeks, so I am jazzed. We might be broke, but I am really getting the Xmas spirit pumping through me.

Why yes, that IS vomit in my lap. Thank you for asking.
I am currently typing this while laying in bed, warmed by the heat being generated by a feverish almost-three-year-old. We put him to bed last night with a fever and a tummy full of baby fever reducing drugs, but other than being tired he was feeling generally okay. Then, at around 12:30am, he woke up crying and saying he had to go potty. By the time I had gotten to him he was burning up again. I got him to the toilet right away where he proceded to shiver and cry uncontrollably. It was obvious his stomach hurt, but he couldn’t sit still on the seat and eventually wormed off the cool porcelain and into my lap. It was then that Twisty was shaken from her drug enduced slumber(I insisted she take something as she has not been sleeping well) and stumbled in the bathroom just in time to see KGB vomit all over me. I mean ALL over me. My shirt, pants, everything. He then got up and deleriously walked around and puked all over the bathmats before we could guide him back to the toilet and tell him that is where he should be aiming. He eventually calmed down and we got him in a bath. He then spent the remainder of the evening restlessly sleeping between us, not really allowing either of us to get a decent night’s sleep. I finally took him downstairs at 6:30, hoping it would give Twisty the chance to sleep a little before she and Kayla had to go to the girlie doctor. The boy and I hung out at home, resting on the couch watching Disney Channel while Twisty was being told by her doc that she needed to have a hysterectomy. Apparently it is an overnight surgery, and is done by robots. Sounds, cheap. I should have absolutely no problem hitting my $5,000 deductible with that one. ugh….fucking health insurance. I wish Blue Cross/Blue Shield was a person so I could fucking kick its ass. Good luck at the ER, you fucking cock knocker. I hate you American health care system. I hate you so goddamn much.
On a brighter note, we got our new TV hooked up and it looks pretty damn nice. I did have to order a special cable to hook up the old Gamecube to the 50″ Samsung plasma, since KGB has started playing Gamecube and enjoys fighting giant monsters as Godzilla. I think he may be a few years away from being able to handle XBOX 360, so Gamecube it is. Oh, and I also got 2 pages of the sequel written today, so that was great news. I am really loving how it is shaping up. It is definitely slow going, but the tone is just more fun and fast paced than Memoirs was. While an origin story is necessary for most heroes, they can tend to be a little fucking boring. But I am hoping to give this next one some more meat for y’all to chew on.
Well, I should probably get my arse to bed. It would be easier if I didn’t have a sick lil tike refusing sleep and kicking me in the face, but he is sick and we kinda just give into him.
Night kids!

I am a sappy man
I busted my Real Xmas Tree cherry today. It was not for my house, but I had to go pick one up for work so I still got to have the experience. What with my family always having pets when I was growing up, it was just smarter to have a fake tree (although we had the same one for at least fifteen years and it really started to look pretty pathetic towards the end). It was kinda exciting to shop for a living dead tree. I couldn’t help but think of KGB who can accurately identify Xmas trees as conifers. There really isn’t much to tell about this tale other than it was a first for me, so get over the lack of beginning, middle and end.
WOWIE ZOWIE!!!
Read any good books lately?
So I am still in the editing process (particularly the first four chapters that I will be sending to agencies by the end of June hopefully) but I just couldn't wait to get my hands on a physical copy of the book, so here it is. This is not me whoring out my stuff for profit, cuz Lulu gets all that, but if you'd like a copy, here it is. Shipping is a bitch, just a warning.

clicky the pic to be swept away
Oh, and if anyone wants to make an easy $100 you can write a synopsis for me. How is it I wrote a 375 page novel and yet can not, for the life of me, manage a 2-3 page outline of the book? I will need one before trying to sell the book to a publisher and it's killing me!!!!
GRRRRRRRRR..... I finished the book, dammit! Can't Barnes & Noble just sell it now please?

Easter goodness...
Holy crap I had a good day...
Started it off with KGB's first Easter egg hunt in the house with eggs we painted yesterday. He had a great time doing that, and then we spent some time checking out the candy in his basket ( and the awesome Iron Man figure the Easter Bunny brought. My lil fella is a total fanboy). His breakfast consisted of jellybeans and Peeps. He crashed from his sugar high at ten, so Twisty and I got a nice morning nap in as well.
After we woke up we headed over to Daniel Island (the ritzy part of town) for their big free Easter egg hunt. HUGE disappointment. They had KGB's age group from 2-7. I dunno if you have noticed lately, but 7 tear old's are much larger and faster than 2 year olds. The hunt was over in less than 3 minutes, and KGB only got one egg that I was hiding under my shoe, and almost had to punch a 7 year old to keep him away from it, after politely asking him twice to fuck off. KGB kept asking "Mo eggs mama. Mo eggs Daddy." Our hearts absolutely broke, so we headed to the store and got 75 plastic eggs and candy to fill them. While he was napping Kayla, twisty and I stuffed a buttload of eggs. We took them to the 2 year birthday party we were going to for Amelia, KGB's future wife. There was supposed to be another kid there, but he never showed so it was just KGB and Amelia responsiblef or hunting down 75 plastic eggs. They had a freakin' blast. After years of dealing with Kayla's mother's screw ups, Twisty and I are experts at fixing things.
THe party was a blast, and we spent a lot of time playing at the park with the kids. I am sore as hell, because I am an idiot man-child and don't have any clue what my old man limitations are. I am sore as shit now, but the ab pull up contest I had with Kayla on the monkey bars seemed like a great idea at the time.
It is time for sleepies now.

Nine Years Happily Balled And Chained (wait...that doesn't sound right...)
SO I have officially been in wedded bliss for nine years and one day. Kinda crazy to think that it was nine years ago we said "I Do" at Cupid's Wedding Chapel on the Vegas Strip. Nine years and we are still all kinds of stupid happy... We must be doin' something right.
Yesterday was a great/shitty day but all in all I was very pleased. We had a big day planned of going to the beach with the fam, and then having Kayla babysit the KGB while we went and had our anniversary dinner. Well, Twisty made me an amazing breakfast of Easter Bread french toast and eggs which I gladly pigged out on. Then it came down to deciding where to eat and let's just say we didn't see eye to eye and it resulted in a stupid pouty tantrum on both our ends... and the rainy chilly day cancelling our beach plans did not help.
After a nap we worked it out and decided on a little Asian joint in downtown Charleston. I didn't care where we ate, I just wanted to be with my baby...but I wasn't in the mood for expensive or fancy. The place we ate tasted exactly like Stir Crazy, a place Twisty worked at for years in CHicago, and she regularly misses the food. SO she was very happy. Then after dinner we strolled through downtown, checking out dessert places, trying to figure out what we wanted to gorge on. We finally decided on a candy/ice cream shop where I got blueberry cheesecake ice cream and she got a HUGE peanut butter cup...we also got 3 bricks of fudge...nummy. We then walked in drizzling rain to the piers and hung out on a big wooden swing watching dolphins and birds play in the water, all the while eating fudge and making fun of everyone we saw. We eventually headed to the car when the rain got heavy and decided to head homewards. Last minute she told me she didn't want to go home yet, so we pulled off the exit to Carraba's and enjoyed a second (third?) round of dessert and coffee for me and choco tinis for her. It was a great way to end a perfect night with the greatest gal in the world.
We got home and KGB was still awake so we played and cuddled for a bit with the kids before eventually crashing in bed and ending a wonderful anniversary day.
I really love that freakin' broad.
How was your weekend?
