{ THE BASICS }
Name: Joshua Foley
Age: 21
Canon Point: After Uncanny X-Men 2019, Issue 19
Species: Homo Superior ( mutant )
Height: 5'9
Notable characteristics: Shiny metallic looking skin, usually bright gold but sometimes jet-black and metallic. White-gold hair and white-gold eyes lacking visible iris or pupil.
Build: Lean and athletic.
Education: Highschool dropout with a PhD and medicine psychically downloaded into his brain.
Abilities: You can read aboout the full scope of Josh's powers here! I've included the following limitations for my own sanity below.

BIOKINESIS: Josh has the ability to manipulate biological material on a genetic level. This includes single-celled organisms and complex creatures like humans. He divides these powers subconsciously into 'healing' and 'harming' which significantly affects how he uses them. He no longer need to physically change from Gold to Lead in order to switch which side of his abilities he's using. His skin still shifts between gold and lead, and changes to reflect his mood and intentions as that's his subconscious messing with his appearance. However, now you could feasibly grab onto a lead patch without suffering any ill-effects if he doesn't intend to use it.

On the healing side, Josh is an extremely powerful healer. Skin to skin contact is the quickest way for him to heal someone as it focuses all his power, but he's able to project that energy within a fifteen foot radius in a much weaker fashion. The closer you are to him, the more effective it is. He wouldn't be able to heal a life threatening stab wound from fifteen feet away, but he might be able to slow the bleeding and try to encourage clotting.

On the harming side, he could maybe kill one person with a touch - but doing so would push him to his limits and have him drop into a coma or kill him outright. He physically feels what he's doing to other people's bodies and the mental strain of it is too much for him to handle. He also wouldn't be able to significantly hurt someone from fifteen feet away, but he could potentially slow them down by making their muscles produce more lactic acid.

He cannot harm and heal at the same time. He has to focus on doing one or the other - meaning if he's healing someone, he can't also be hurting someone else. If he tries, he'll either end up healing them both or hurting them both.

His energy stores aren't quite as limited as they were when he was first brought in, but he's still working with a limited pool of energy. He could heal a total of four to five people from near death before he's going to smash face first into a coma, and healing (or hurting) people without touching them takes a significant toll on him.

SELF-REGENERATION: Josh's healing factor is bumped up to something he no longer has to activate, but rather a passive process that kicks in if he's injured. It still draws from the same energy pool as his powers to heal other people.

He CANNOT heal as quickly as wounds are inflicted. However, if he's killed with minimal injury to his body (a single bullet wound to the chest, a broken neck, no damage directly to his brain) he's not completely dead and will be able to revive himself within twenty-four hours. If there's major damage - a bullet to the brain, severe internal damage, something that he can't recover from - he's proper dead. The more prolonged or intense the damage he's causing, the faster he burns himself out.

Backtagging: Yes! I'll backtag forever - if I lose a thread, please let me know!
Threadhopping: GO FOR IT!
Fourthwalling: If you want to! He's probably not going to be thrilled about it and might lash out.

{ IC PERMISSIONS }
Hugging or kissing this character: Assuming the CR isn't negative, Josh will respond positively to any physical touch.
Flirting with this character: He'll flirt back. Always.
Fighting with this character: Smash his face into the ground.
Injuring this character: Go for it! He'll be pretty cocky about it until he realizes his powers aren't as infinite as they are back home. He's an okay fighter but it's pretty obvious that he's come to rely on his powers.
Killing this character: Run it by me first!
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Absolutely! Josh's mind is a mess, though - it's quoted as being WAVES OF CONFUSION AND RAGE SMASHING AGAINST THE CRUMBLING BREAKERS OF RATIONALITY. It isn't always that bad, but if he gets too distressed it's a place NO ONE wants to be.

CONTENT WARNING: Josh has what is probably raging, poorly treated PTSD thanks to everything he's dealt with. It includes but is not limited to: surviving what amounts to a magical genocide, watching his classmates die in front of him on multiple occasions, murder, fantasy racism - both having and having experienced, forced conscription, dying, homelessness (living in the ruins of Utopia), plagues, etc. These are all extremely heavy topics and may be alluded to, but will be run by other players before actually being brought into a thread! Please let me know if there's anything you definitely don't want to be broached with your characters.

BIOKINETIC SENSES EXPLAINED

Josh is a walking diagnostic unit which means that he has the wonderful passive ability of sensing abnormalities in the human body. He's able to pick up on Monet's parasitic brother, on Sabretooth's inversion, and Magneto's general fragility. Consider it something akin to standard telepathy, except instead of thoughts, he's picking up on biological feedback. It's kind of a depressing power but what can you do?

Rule of fun and comfort applies over rule of canon, so if for any reason you don't want Josh to pick up on anything then he definitely won't. I'll always double check with you before anything is 'sensed' and run it by the other player before it's acknowledged, this is just a cliffnotes version.

MISC NOTES

Josh's abilities center around healing and harming. I will run this by anyone I'm threading with well before it gets implemented. If for any reason you'd like your character to be unaffected by either due to power reasons or comfort reasons please let me know!

    KRAKOA
We are people, not weapons, not resources, and certainly not soldiers. Krakoa was founded up on the promise of creating a safe environment for young imPorts. They want to better their lives with science and their abilities, not through using them to harm others or covet power.
This state was founded when a handful of imPorts who had served with the White Tower requested independence and a safe space. Given the service record of these individuals, they were granted conditional independence with the understanding that should they ever raise arms against their benefactors, they would be eradicated. Krakoa was created with the intention to abstain from future wars and the ongoing power struggle.
Krakoa is ruled by a Council of Five. Joshua Foley (MIA), Allison Hargreeves, Jane Porter, David Alleyne & Rimuru Tempest guide the island towards peace and prosperity.
    SETTING
Any info about the game's setting you'd like to put here.
EXPORTS: The very best in defensive system technology and medical research.
POPULATION: Krakoa's population skews very young, as it was founded with the goal of creating a safe space for young imPorts to grow up away from the constant fighting.
PLACES OF INTEREST: The barrier system surrounds the island. It allows authorized personnel to enter and exit, but no one else.

    picturesque manmade landscapes
    community
    live your life
    power
    freedom to use your gifts
    immortality
you are safe in the hands of the five
    ADDITIONAL INFO
CULTURE: An island paradise far from prying eyes. Krakoa's population skews towards the younger side. The core of their belief system is that your powers are yours and you hold no obligation to use them for the betterment of the world. In fact, as far as they're concerned, the world outside Krakoa might as well not exist. It focuses on training imPorts to use their gifts and to use them to benefit their people and society in a peaceful, non-violent manner.
It's also exactly what you imagine an island full of teenagers to be - full of constant drinking, partying, and celebrating youth and life. Krakoa is fun for young people who may never have known fun before in their lives. It lets them test the extent of their abilities.
If you show enough promise and a strong enough desire to fight, and the Council believe you can handle life outside the protective bubble of the island, you may be recruited by the White Tower during the Synod.
STRENGTHS: Krakoa boasts some of the best defenses on the planet. Up until the disappearance of Joshua Foley, the populace also boasted immortality. There was no sickness or death within its borders. There are even rumors they’ve been experimenting with the nanites.
WEAKNESSES: Per their agreement with the White Tower, Krakoa has no weaponry. As such, Krakoa has very little in the way of offense. It’s defensive systems may seem impenetrable, but with a little inside information and some brute force they can be destroyed.
WANTED: Leadership! The Council is completely open for people to sign onto. Rivals! There are those who see Krakoa as a threat, take them out. Enemies! Are you with the resistance? Do you want to come attack this peaceful island nation? Let’s play out some invasions! Traitors! Are you ready to move somewhere bigger and better? All you need to do is betray your faction.

ELIXIR OF LIFE is Josh's solution to missing a substantial chunk of his powers and being fairly desperate to feel useful. It's half yoga studio and half doctor's office.

He offers YOGA CLASSES, MASSAGE THERAPY, and CHIROPRACTY for a nominal fee and offers weekly lessons. The second half of the business is TRADITIONAL MEDICINE and DIAGNOSTICS using his abilities and the PhD's worth of knowledge he has in his head. His HEALING ABILITIES can be employed under dire circumstances, but due to the heavy toll they take on him they're not immediately offered.

The business is run out of Josh's home, 4 Chastain.

    Build: Lean and athletic.
Education: Highschool dropout with a PhD and medicine psychically downloaded into his brain.
Abilities: Josh is a biokinetic with the ability to heal, harm, and diagnose people. His healing and harming abilities are split into two distinct states: Gold and Lead. Neither form is truly different from the other, it's just drawing on a different side of his abilities. Josh has drawn a hard divider in his mind for his powers and has split his abilities accordingly to it. He's still drawing from the same limited energy pool and can't switch forms to reset it, only stop using them and wait for it to recharge.

He can physically be in either state (lead skin, gold skin) without actively using his powers. They're triggered by physical contact - either by him touching, or being touched - and not in use unless there's physical contact.

GOLD FORM. In canon, Josh is what's known as an OMEGA LEVEL MUTANT - meaning that there is currently no scope for how strong his powers will grow. He's able to alter the human body on a genetic level, allowing him to heal injuries, reverse the damage done by unnatural mutations, and even revive the dead. He does not need to touch anyone and can project a healing field for miles, healing everyone within it on a genetic level. This is more than a little overpowered and as such, any restrictions that need to be placed on it are welcomed.

While in his gold form, Josh can heal people without needing to touch them. Doing this expends energy - healing someone from the brink of death is difficult, but he's able to so as long as he's mentally sound.

In his gold form, Josh can also regenerate himself almost as quickly as injuries are inflicted upon him. This means he could tank through direct attacks and instantly heal from the damage, eventually, the strain of fixing that damage would catch up with him and he'd collapse.

Josh has complete control over his own biology. This has pros and cons: while he can heal himself in this form, he can't be healed by external forces. If he pushes himself too far or is too badly injured, he'll drop into a coma until his body has recovered enough to wake from it. External forces are not able to cure him.

LEAD FORM. To contrast the healing, Josh can also cause harm. Josh's abilities aren't truly defined as healing, as in repairing the damage that has been caused. It's biokinesis. The ability to manipulate the human body on a genetic level.

He's demonstrated the ability to create cancer where there was none, to draining the life out of people around him, to creating specialty made tumors. He could jack someone's body temperature up to a brain-melting level or reconfigure someone's genetic structure to include a deadly allergy to the sun. Or he could give someone he really doesn't like a cold. It's incredibly diverse and broken and I'm open to whatever restrictions need to be placed on it.

In addition, he can't heal in this form. Josh cannot heal at the same time he's inflicting harm.

I'm fine with any additional limitations the mods want to put on his abilities - the ability to instantly kill people is stupidly overpowered and needs to be nyxed immediately.

WALKING DIAGNOSTIC UNIT. Josh can sense what is wrong in the bodies of the people around him. He's able to pick up on Monet's parasitic brother, on Sabretooth's inversion, and Magneto's general fragility. Consider it something akin to standard telepathy, except instead of thoughts, he's picking up on biological feedback. He seems to be able to sense the 'emotions' of the illnesses and abnormalities he's curing as well.

    Character information
    ● name: Joshua Foley
    ● canon: Marvel 616
    ● age: 18 - 21

    ● Josh Foley's life has been a rollarcoaster of trauma, tragedy, and reinvention. When his mutation first manifested, he was a follower. Josh was absolutely the kind of kid who bullies others because that’s just what you do so other people don’t come after you. He wasn't a ringleader, he wasn't a villain, he was just a stupid kid with a big mouth and no idea how to shut it.

It got him into trouble, sure. His first appearance has him signing up to be a Reaver at the behest of one of his friends, the first words out of his mouth being why can't we just hate mutants like normal people? He had no strong convictions, nothing he wouldn't sacrifice in order to fit in. He's charismatic, charming, and all too eager to please.

Dating teachers? Sure. Running off to play the hero and nearly getting killed? More than once. Cheating on his girlfriend with his other girlfriend? Absolutely. Anything to feel seen, to have the attention on him. He nearly gets himself killed more than once trying to show off. Josh spends most of the first run being a well-intentioned idiot, shoving his foot in his mouth at every opportunity and hurting people with careless words. He talks too much and thinks too little, easily rankled and all too quick to pick a fight. He's a far cry from the stereotypical zen healer, taking none of it seriously and wanting only the glory, but he isn't blind to the human element of it. He goes out of his way to help Noriko and bring her into the fold (even if he gripes that he was 'cut out of' the equation to bring her back). Josh is ultimately a good kid who makes terrible choices.

Being one of the only healers on campus means that he's all that stands between life and death for his teachers and classmates. It takes time, but slowly Josh begins to calm down. Once his friendship with Hellion ends and he becomes a member of the New Mutants, he stops showboating. He still wants to beat the Hellions at their own game, but he no longer goes out of his way to put himself in danger and get approval. He matures slowly but surely, accepting the end of his relationship with Rahne (and even the lack of future) and focusing on moving forward with Laurie.

When his team drops him upon finding out that he'd dated both girls at the same time, he grudgingly accepts them icing him out. He's not upset with Laurie for being angry, he is upset that no one asked his side or for clarification on what happened. They take Kevin's word over his. Josh deals with his problems (poorly) alone, or by confiding in Dani. By the time the team sets the misunderstanding aside, it's too late.

M-Day happens. Things change. Laurie is killed. The wrong side of his powers gets flipped on, and he gets the ability to kill. This alters the course of his life completely and marks the worst shift in his personality. He asks the Stepford Cuckoos to give him all the knowledge he needs to save people and they do, and that warps him on some fundamental level. Josh goes full galaxy brain, slipping into a depressive state until he's brought out of it by Alani Ryan's request to make out. He draws a line in the sand, says that he doesn't want to go out on the field because he doesn't want to kill anyone ever again.

Then Josh is recruited onto the X-Force. He's brought up to heal Rahne from mortal injuries and that's it, he's stuck. They have him give Vanisher brain cancer to put him on a leash, and have him attend every mission thereafter. This ranges from hunting down a stolen bioweapon to going into the future to protect the mutant messiah. He uses his death powers, growing both more and less comfortable with them.

After Limbo, and after joining the X-Force, Josh... changes. He gets really into yoga. Despite seemingly being in a relationship with Loa, he's seen openly flirting (and maybe more) with the Cuckoos. He completely forgoes wearing a shirt and focuses entirely on being a zen-master healer. He distances himself from his friends and keeps everyone at arms length. Josh has always been an incorrigible flirt, but the attitude here is unlike anything he's shown before.

Necrosha was the last thing he could handle. In the wake of murdering his former classmate turned supervillain, Kevin Ford, Josh disappeared. From how Wolverine makes it sound, the inability to turn gold again destroyed him emotionally and he up and vanished without a word to any of them. The next time we see him he's angrier and more broken up. He's killed at the hands of Siphon and revives offscreen, disappearing again.

When he reappears in the rubble of Utopia with a handful of other mutants who are fed up with things, he's different. Josh no longer objects to needless killing and bloodshed - he merely accepts it as a necessary evil to staying alive. Though he is convinced to return with the time-displaced X-Men, he only stays for a little while. When the M-Pox breakout happens he runs away yet again, unable to heal it and unable to handle the fact that he can't fix it. He goes into hiding and gets involved in a church in Vermont.

It's there that Monet and Sabretooth find him. Josh is jovial on the surface, but far from welcoming - clearly wanting no part in them being there. He barely has time to listen to their warning before his life is once again upended. Rogue Inhumans slaughter his new human friends, goading him into walking into the open - and he does. Pushed to his emotional limits yet again, his powers abruptly evolve and he gains the ability to heal without touching --

Only to be shot dead on the spot.

Josh is buried in Queens. It isn't clear by who, only that there isn't anyone watching the grave. He claws his way free and somehow, against all odds, makes his way to Genosha by himself. It's there that Magneto finds him. Josh is clearly unhinged, having been on the island for an unknown amount of time, reviving and killing the man who shot him. His angry outburst is disjointed, he has trouble keeping his thoughts on the task at hand - and when Magneto tries to coax him to come with them, to get help, he explodes and makes an attempt to revive the dead of the island.

    All sixteen million dead mutants.

The strain of trying leads him to collapse. He remains fixated on them, wanting to help, and Magneto's X-Men take him to the quarantine zone for mutants affected with M-Pox. Josh makes an attempt to heal them and succeeds - up until he has another episode, attacking the human doctors around him. When they attempt to intervene Josh nearly kills them too, and would have, were it not for him regaining his senses at the last possible moment. They send him to Xorn's temple, giving him space to hone his abilities and recover. He reappears twice after that - once, with Exodus, to revive Magneto after he was killed by Psylocke. Declaring their debt cleared.

And once to clean up the damage caused by the Mothervine virus, which he kills completely before returning to Asteroid M with Exodus.

Josh is a member of Magneto's Brotherhood for a short while. Magneto is ripped from the universe when Nate Grey says No More X-Men and Josh and another Brotherhood member, Marrow, are recruited onto Emma Frost's new Hellfire Club.

    ● abilities:

OMEGA LEVEL BIOKINETIC. Josh is what's known as an OMEGA LEVEL mutant - meaning that there is currently no scope for how strong his powers will grow, nor the depth of their abilities. When he first appeared he was able to heal life-threatening injuries, but only to a certain point, and only while touching them and consciously activating his powers.

At current canon, he's able to revive people from the dead and kill them with a touch.

OMEGA LEVEL HEALING FACTOR. While he used to need to consciously activate his powers in order to heal himself (or remain in a coma until his body sorted itself out) his healing factor now appears to be always active. He's now able to heal from injuries as soon as they're inflicted and has revived from the dead twice.

PHD LEVEL KNOWLEDGE OF MEDICINE. Thanks to some psychic friends he was able to jack Beast's knowledge of medicine and the human body. There are some things that come innately with his powers, but everything else comes from this.
