new journal!
Starting today, I am retiring this journal. It turns seven years old this month (jeez!), and I feel like it's about time to let it go and move on to something else. My flist is too clogged with communities to find stuff from my friends, too, which is half the reason I don't keep up with stuff.

ATTENTION ALL HARRY POTTER FANS IN THE D.C. AREA!
A Likely Story Children's Bookstore in Alexandria is having an amazing Harry Potter release party. It's too big for just one store, literally! Lots of businesses on King Street have jumped in on the action, and will be offering Potter-related activities throughout the evening. It's four hours of fun, culminating in the book release.. and best of all, it's FREE!

I'll be there, working as a volunteer. Currently, I'll be in the train station (yes, they have the train station, too), but that's subject to change. Because I don't want to airbrush tattoos for four hours. I'll also be handing out books when the time comes. (To the Gryffindors, of course.)
If you're coming, give me a ring or leave a comment. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE EVERYONE. Seriously. Come. It's going to be awesome.

I know I have a lot of writers on my flist. And I know you're all fantastic at it. SO. This is my plug for my new project: Write for Darfur. All proceeds from this project are going to the Save Darfur Coalition.
Even if you're not interested in participating yourself, please, please pass this on if you think it's a good cause and you know of people who would contribute. I'm trying to generate some interest in the community before I start contacting publishers and trying to get in touch with some authors. (And yes, I do have the methods for doing so.)

So.. in other news, things are going well here. It was a rough first few days, but I think I sorted it out. Mostly. I'm feeling pretty good about myself, which is always awesome. And I can't wait to go back to school. :DDD

Yes, you read that correctly: I WENT TO DRESS. And oh my god, it was the most amazing, wonderful, incredible thing I have EVER done in my entire LIFE. If you ever go to see SNL, go to dress. Seriously. I'll tell you why later...because before we can get to "the good stuff", we have to get through the 6 hour wait.

I love SNL. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, you've both changed my life. I will find a way to tell that to you both someday. But for now, I'll just be happy with the amazing time I had at SNL.
