THINKIN ABOUT the otp in tural/dt, and how they SWORE saving the universe was their last big gig, but now spiral's got himself tangled up in a rite of succession--which is small beans comparatively, but still--
anyway, all that to say that i was VERY disappointed that the rock wall that thancred knocks down is already in place in the 1st dt dungeon in tourist mode, so i cant showcase jiji's competitive spirit while she (team koana) goes 👉😜 blehhhhh at spiral (team lamatyi) right before the cave-in
spiral starts to lb the rubble and krile's like "SPIRAL. no. save it for the next boss."
i also love thinkin abt how different plot points would have happened with the otp, essentially protagonist/deuteragonist instead of just a singular protag (although i do think at some point in btwn* sb and shb, jiji would have her own version of the echo, maybe osmosis’d from spiral, or at the least has a warding scale)
the one point im torn on is how the Exarch Gacha Arc would have gone. if hes pulling people close to the wol, then obviously jiji would be one of them. BUT i also think, since he’s also met jiji, he would recognize her aether enough to be like ummm no. not that one. (it probably bit him; pre-sb jiji was a MENACE [more so than she is now, somehow]) thus leaving jiji to help take care of things while spiral is helping out on the first. obviously she’s FRIPIS about not being able to go with him, but after she learns he’s ok and can travel btwn worlds at will, she rolls her sleeves up and gets to work tormenting estinien picking up the slack on the source so spiral can focus on the first. *in this scenario, jiji would gain smthn echo-adjacent to better facilitate her stepping up.
as an apology, spiral brings her an amaro hatchling and has graha go with him to gift it (she cries big ugly tears, both at the cuteness of the amaro and at graha being awake)
UNFORTUNATELY this would mean she never met ryne, but spiral would have told jiji about her and lyna and everyone else, so every time he had cause to return to the first he also had a bag full of letters for everyone.
this also means that she is just as bewildered as estinien by emet-selch and hythlodaeus at the end of ew. “who was that. spiral. spiralfist ravenmane WHO was that.” (probably hythlo recognized her soul as his old friend mikro and said something cryptic, and spirals like i dont KNOW what that means! honest!!) spiral PROBABLY told her about his Time Travel Adventures, but still.
ancient, source, first, ninth. some jiji shards! ancient made a compact body for themselves as a goof, went "wait. this slaps actually." and when they done got sundered all of their shards stayed that way.
