In other news, Disney Corporation buys Marvel Company. The jokes about a Mickey Mouse/Wolverine team-up have begun as well as people crying about Marvel becoming 'family friendly'...I think the bigger WTFDKJFHKDJF is that one of the four largest megalomaniac media corporations has now bought over a comicbook industry Big Fish. That's not very family friendly to me. It's all business, folks.
(On the bright side, Tom mentioned that hopefully they'll release Disney's stable of EXTREMELY TALENTED artists onto Marvel to revamp their 2D animation style. Because a Marvel animation to rival that of Warner Bros' DCComics' [now ex-]artist Bruce Timm? That'd be kinda win.)

FACEBOOK FAILURE
One last thing - Facebook starting to wane? I've shut down most of my profile and only really use mine to:
a) Rant about things like Stopping Child Torture, Racebending and (more frivolously) yapping about movies.
b) Planning parties/get togethers/meet-ups with RL friends.
The latter is invaluable because I'm pretty sure Vancouver has the highest population of Facebook accounts. (And spas for dogs...just so you know what kind of city I live in). So eh. Sure, New York City might think Facebook is leaving; but Lotusland, we ain't gonna let it die!
OMG...Kingdom Hearts + Marvel? NO STREET FIGHTER STYLE, I DEMAND FULL-ON ACTION-ADVENTURE STORY LINE WITH SORA, DONALD DUCK AND JEAN GREY, KTHNX. *headspinz*

Now I kind of want to do a couple of those Hulk crossovers that keep hanging around the back of my brain.

I saw another comment that said it best: Disney the Company is much different then Disney the Brand.
Personally, though, and in all seriousness, I am slightly concerned. Comics, like cartoons, are seen as a kid's medium and therefore should not be dark or mature.
On the other hand, given some of the things Quesada has done to Marvel, Disneyfication may be an improvement.
On the third hand, with Eisner no longer at the helm, Disney is slowly climbing out of the craphole it has made for itself. The Princess and the Frog will be a surefire indicator of how that's going.

However, I just find the jokes too amusing. And I would not be adverse to Disney doing a Spider-Man loves Mary Jane cartoon if they so wanted. :3
Plus, deep pockets is probably a good thing for Marvel now.

However, that was under Eisner, so who knows what this will be like.

... okay, now I'm just getting silly. :3

Yeah, I like to think Marvel and Disney deserve some hand-holding snoogle time. Comics and cartoons are perceived as children's mediums, but with our generation of 35-year old video gamers and shows like Simpsons and (ugh) Family Guy, I believ that perception is shifting. I do believe in mature comics! I do! I do!

If this was still the Eisner regime, I might be more concerned, but the current board seems to have its head screwed on straight.
We'll have to wait and see,
One thing though. 4 Billion? Marvel went for only 4 Billion? WTF?

You hit the nail right on the head, compadre. There are a lot of people who have a steady work-play-work-play schedule when they go to work, heh.
I guess it's the everyperson's version of BNFery? I've noticed it becomes an issue of who has the most friends, so they just try to befriend EVERYONE in a desperate attempt to look beloved? LAWL. I got LJ for that, thanks.
It's really great for planning stuff with friends, I admit. Send out a mass Facebook 'email' which for some reason is more guaranteed to reach the person than sending a group email to their ACTUAL accounts.

Actually, I'm mostly hoping that Di$ney money means we get an Avengers movie with both a a-list cast and amazing special effects. Because that has been far from a certainty.

YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
And seriously, I'm not sure where people are getting the whole "Disney buying up a studio/company/etc = they get the Mouse ears makeover." Disney owns a SHIT TON of other producing studios and, as far as I can make out, all it means in terms of what the consumers can see is that those companies get the Disney money behind their advertising and.. I dunno, something, I'm just sitting back here thinking, "Oh yeah, because The Crow and Kill Bill were so kiddie friendly.."
EDIT: I must say, I'm also surprised to see that at least a couple of people at

I think least Disney (when it comes to child-friendly Disney) has SOME popular franchises with PoC, like their crappy Disney children's sitcoms, Mulan, Lilo and Stitch and upcoming Princess and the Frog. Hell, I'll even throw in Aladdin and Pocahontas, despite those two being issue-tastic, at least the heroes were brown? AND THE SONGS ARE AWESOMES. XD
WTH WHY AM I DEFENDING DISNEY, LOL.

RPG-13? I'D LIKE TO KNOW.Not that I've ever used Facebook regularly (my own personal fail) but I just said like a few months ago to a co-worker who suggested our (stodgy) company get on FB that it was going to decline in popularity within a few years. That's just how it goes.

You are psychic!! I'm delighted to see Twitter's downfall, personally. That place is rife with wtf.

O.O

Oh..I'm not sure I like that at all
on the other hand, a family-friendly Frank Castle would be slightly hilarious

re Disney/Marvel OTP: I just want to know if they're going to have, like, Namor's Splashdown or a Fastball Special ride at Disney World. Because that'd be kind of awesome.

No one would go into Namor's Splashdown. They'd be inundated with watery emo and come out smelling like fish. WHO WANTS THAT.
