Summary:

**MANGA SPOILERS!!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!**

Olruggio arrives home in the middle of the night after working with a client. He doesn’t expect Qifrey to still be awake and awaiting his arrival. But when the two share a drink, lips loosen and secrets spill between them.

“I told you not to wait up for me.” He pushes a frustrated hand through his hair. 

“I know.”

Silence stretches between them. Olruggio isn’t sure if it’s because he’s practically half asleep but something feels… off about Qifrey. He steps closer, concern pulling at his brow. Soft purple underlines his friend’s eyes, sitting in dark contrast against his pale skin. He must not have been sleeping again. Qifrey averts his gaze, like he can hear Olruggio’s thoughts. 

“Nightmares again?”

Qifrey breathes a humorless laugh, eye closing as he shakes his head, “You know me too well, my dear friend.” He gestures to the low table between them, “Sit with me?”

Summary:

Some days were easier than others for Qifrey to ignore the urges that made him human. The ones that reminded him, despite everything, that his blood still ran hot and his flesh still wanted. He was still just a man, after all. Truly it was mostly bothersome but not quite hindering; like an itch that was just too far out of his reach to scratch. Irritating but…manageable. At least, most of the time anyway.
