It was a unexpected surprise to see the Lincoln Monument on the way home, part of the original Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental road in the United States.
A solid, physical reminder that this country has survived so much, and changed so much. And yet we remain connected, by our roads and by our ideals.
May we always remember that.
