What steps can reproduce the bug?

when running tasks in parallel it doesn't consider other branches or new versions when merging and will cause merge conflicts end up doing things like adding a function, then thinks it's extra and needs to be cleaned up, then adding the same function in a loop. this seems to happen with any updates that happen from outside the thread after starting a prompt. also causes merge conflicts when multiple tasks are done from the buttons generated when using 'ask'.
