they mulched around the condo today, which means everything smells like (literal) shit.

dinner at naantastic with e2a. a continues to be the cutest 7 week old I know.

work continues apace. people won't stop killing each other. getting a raise after 8 years. just realized that apart from management, I'm the 2nd longest serving employee.

ninja training also continues apace. am now an advanced blue belt. if my calculations are correct, I'm on track to earn my apprentice black belt in December of next year.

[personal profile] shadowspar was here last week for a visit. always nice to see him. need to plan this summer's trip North.

let's see if I can get back in the habit of posting.

With you is where I’d rather be, but we’re stuck where we are and it’s so hard, you’re so far. This long distance is killing me. -Bruno Mars

1. 13 years since i graduated uni. where does the time go?

2. g's son is turning 13 next week. i never put the two together.

3. it suddenly became summer this weekend. it's gonna get cold again this week. i am glad, because i hate sweating.

4. i'm bored. maybe bored isn't the right word. i'm tired of all my internet games. it's too hot to knit what's on the needles. i'm not terribly motivated to start the second sock of the pair for mom. nothing i feel like reading. whiiiiiiine.

5. some of the boredom may also stem from the fact that i haven't left the house since i got home from work on friday afternoon.

6. remembered to call mom this morning, for mother's day. they bought a car -- a hyundai i10 in blue. apparently there's been some drama with getting the money wired from their US bank account. my uncle (dad's brother in law) is mediating somehow. or being an intermediary. i didn't ask. i don't much care.

7. work is work. the other day i told my boss that one day in the future, when i'm sitting at her desk, i'd change what i consider a pretty stupid part of one protocol. you know, like 30 years from now. i have no intentions of becoming a supervisor any time soon. /so/ not cut out for the politics of the position.

8. dad mentioned that he wants to watch me in court while they're here. (yes, they've already booked plane tickets. for 20 days in september.) let's hope that i don't have any subpoenas for that time frame ;-)

9. mushy feels about a certain boy. <3

10. there is no ten. it is merely there for making an evenly numbered list. (i lie. i am also starting the process of buying a new car. the 2004 civic, while not in any way a bad car or in bad condition or requiring mechanical work, is just old. i'm looking at either a honda fit or a nissan versa note. i'm mostly leaning towards the honda for two reasons. one, it's got really good reviews. and two, i like the honda dealer's service department. i never get the feeling that they're trying to scam me or push me into unnecessary repairs.)

1. Things appear to be moving in a generally positive direction. I might, however, need to start keeping spare knickers at work.

2. Got back to town on Sunday. Was a really nice vacation. And a true break. I love mom and dad's new apartment - feels like home. We spent a lot of time just hanging around. Day trip to the science garden, time with not!family for Passover and the following Shabbat, Ein Hod, Zichron Ya'akov, and I'm sure some things I'm forgetting. Then I wandered off to volunteer with the army for 5 days, then home. Met some of their friends too. (One of the couples has two sons ~my age who I was at uni with. One of the sons was a bio major. I have /no idea/ who he is.)

3. Holocaust Memorial Day in Israel, on an army base, is quite the experience. We, the volunteers, got to participate in the ceremony -- everyone on the base (maybe a hundred or so people) lined up in the parking lot / parade grounds in front of the flagpole. 2 minute siren at 10 am, everyone standing at attention. Then two officers gave speeches, one of them read the El Maleh Rachamim [G-d full of Mercy] prayer, then a soldier sang, another soldier did a reading, then the singer did another reading. We sang the national anthem, and that was it. Maybe a half hour, and I didn't understand much of the speeches, but it was very moving.

4. I wish I could have stayed through Memorial and Independence Days. I think I experienced that in 1985, but I have no recollection. Instead I left the parental units with a translation and schedule of events that was in the local paper. Memorial Day starts/started tonight. It's already weird not being there.

5. I lost count of how many people asked me when I was moving to Israel. At this rate, never. I have lots of reasons. Please stop asking.

6. Work ... continues apace. Still catching up from so long away. Everyone is still nuts. Four subpoenas on the agenda. Plus I need to put together my presentation that I'm giving in about a month. Eep.
