First of all, please read the books, because people have been taking the line, “doesn’t know the dark side of hockey” waaayyyyy out of context. Second, sure Shane doesn’t like clubbing, but that doesn’t mean he was struggling to connect with his teammates. In the books, his teammates seem to like him enough because he is The Shane Hollander. And in the show too, when Shane shows up to Hayden’s house to watch the final match with Boston, the Metros were quite happy to see their captain.
And like I mentioned before, Shane doesn’t like clubbing in canon but that doesn’t mean he never hangs out with his teammates or his friends because of that. Literally no one ever makes fun of him for not clubbing in both the canons. The one time he had a disaster clubbing experience with Rose, no one blamed him for it, because that man was going through it.
About the girls, I understand this thing wasn’t in the show, but Shane has no problem in picking up girls. Again, he The Shane Hollander. In the book, before Shane even played for the juniors prospect cup, the girls in his high school were after him, wanting to date him, because he was the popular jock in the school. He had an Adidas sponsorship at just the age of 18 ffs.
And while we are at it, in both canons, Shane easily charmed Rose Landry (who is like the in universe version of Jennifer Lawrence). Like that man could have dated any woman he wanted. And in the book he is also named the hottest player by cosmopolitan multiple times over the years. On the other hand, Shane easily also hooks up with other men in the book, when he and Ilya are still in their situation-ship era.
Sorry but he is not some woobiefied poor man who doesn’t have any friends. He is Shane Hollander, three times Stanly Cup winner and the best player in the NHL. And he is pretty confident about all this.
He is also one of the most famous men in hockey and no one would dare to ever bully him because Shane can easily crush those people with his hockey stick.

The difference that Ilya is pointing to is that he has been actively paying attention to how the league grinds up its players for its bottom line recently, which is not something Shane has done consciously (because he is a very straightforward guy who doesn't look left or right very much).
