Memorial Day

It seems like it's going to be really nice today. I'm working till noon but free after that. I'm not doing anything special, walking, maybe some shopping, and definitely some chores. I got the cold from hell last week and my place is a disaster zone. Things are actually quite lazy now since school's out. I did well in both classes which is always a relief. I'm taking the next level of french in the Fall so I have to work on not losing all I've learned so far over the summer. Jess and I are working a local mineral show in about 2 weeks and then spending the week in Florida. We're going with our mom and niece and taking our niece to see all the sights.                                                                                                                                             Thinking about Memorial Day and the fact that all my family that did serve in the military during wartime were all fortunate to survive. Both my grandfathers in WWII and my great grandfather in WWI. I remember my Gramps' stories and how many close calls he had.

Winter Wonderland!

I haven't written in forever! Shame on me! I'm writing this looking at the snow outside, which is very lovely and I can appreciate a lot more now that I've already dug out my car. ;D We had around two feet of snow this week between two different days of snowing, I even got a snow day from work! (very rare) As far as recent events, I just recently got back from the mineral shows at Tucson. Jess and I spent all our money on a lot of very pretty rocks. I have some very nice pics that I'll have to download on Facebook so I can show off. Lots of pics of rocks, great weather at Tucson and also a lot of pictures from the Pima Air and Space Museum, which was a lot of fun!

Jess and I are planning on starting to sell our stuff first in April, though at that show, it will be mostly our Dad's stuff, and then mainly at the Mineral Show at Museum Village in Monroe, NY. Hopefully we will do well enough to make back what we spent. Otherwise my next trip will be in June, my Mom, Jess and I are taking our neice to Disneyworld. I'm sure it will be hectic, but I also hope to have a lot of fun. My niece is super hyper!

I am also in school again, I've taking the next level of French and also Cultural Anthropology. Both are a lot of fun, but the French especially is hard, a lot of grammer this sememster, which isn't necessarily difficult, but just a lot to remember.

Let's see...that's about it, except that I just bought a new couch!!! Yah!!!! And a kitchen dinette set!! Super Yay!!! No more card table!! :D

Stuff going on

Hello All,

I've been lurking, but not updating in quite some time. I've managed to do some stuff in the past couple months. ;D In April Jess and I went down to Tampa and visited Big Cat Rescue. It was a lot of fun visiting the santuary and seeing all the gorgeous cats, so happy in their nice healthy and safe homes. They are obviously very spoiled. We did the enrichment (Keeper) tour and the feeding tour and saw how much entertainment and tasty goodies they get.

I've also started an online course, Introduction to international Politics, which is going pretty well. Work is nothing special. It seems that someone is quitting every other day....but that's another matter. Otherwise my next "big event" is Jess and I running a table at a local mineral show, selling the minerals we've purshased this past year as part of our own stock. I'm a little worried because there are supposed to be scattered showers, but I'm crossing my fingers!

I've also got my own little garden. Well..it's more like an a pot of herbs on my steps outside...but it's mine! :D

(no subject)

Geez, I'm averaging about one post a month. It was one of the few sunny days today, it's been raining most of this week, too bad I'm working again this weekend, otherwise I would go to the park again and enjoy the Fall foilage while it lasts, it's always gone so soon!

I caved and bought some Halloween candy early. But only 'cause it was on sale and I had a coupon! B-day is next week, and then Halloween, no surprise this is my favorite month of the year! I've picked apples, had apple cider and apple butter, and apple cider donuts. I've made tarte tatin, apple cake and apple turnovers. I'm going Autumn crazy! :D

I'm very much looking foward to taking a few days off next week four our b-day. I've been working almost every weekend for the last two months. Just trying to earn up as much extra monies as possible. To pay off the credit card, have fun on b-day, for vacation, x-mas, savings, etc. Most of the time it's fine. I'm working with kids, older boys in a group home, it can get rowdy and loud but I've managed to miss the major incidents (knock on wood). But being able to be off, not only to go to NYC on Thursday and Friday but the Warwick Applefest is on Sunday (again with the apples Geni?!). So I plan on having fun dammit!

Tasty and healthy!

I made this the other day, http://themindfulfoodie.com/2012/0…

Potato and radish leaf curry! It turned out really good! It wasn't spicy though. She says use chili powder, maybe she meant red cayenne? If I cook it again though, I'll still use the chili powder, and add some red pepper to give it a spicy kick. It was a great way to utilize a very tasty green that usually just gets thrown in the trash!

Puppies!

Today Jess and I sold our rocks at the yard sale for the animal shelter, Pets Alive. It was very nice today, but not a cloud in the sky to give us some shade and the sun was HOT. We did sell some stuff, managed to make a profit beyond cost (which was only $25). There was one sweet little boy helping volunteer at the yard sale, who bought a couple of the cheaper rocks from us, very intelligent and loved looking at everthing. He was actually our first sale, and he spend all of his money buying our stuff. We made sure to give him good discounts. ;) Nice to see interest in one so young. Most of the better sales, of the more expensive rocks were to a few older customers, who were obviously familiar with fine minerals. It was nice, we got to pet little puppies, look at kittens, eat Italian Ices, and just hang out. I also got some nice paperbacks, for 25 cents a piece. A couple of Nora Roberts romance novels, and a fantasy novel, "Poisoned Sleep," that I'd thought of buying at Borders when it was closing, but wasn't sure I would like it. Easy to take that chance when it's only a quarter!

I'm going again tomorrow, by myself since Jess has to work, but it's only be for a couple of hours.

Then tomorrow night we're gonna watch The Avengers!

Superbowl Sunday

I'm not much of a sports fan, but I can't help but have felt the excitement of many of my clients as this day approached. Of course their all Giant's fans. Since my family has never been big on sports and have a team, our tradition was always to route for the underdog. Apparently that's the Patriots, so their the ones I'm going to route for. ;)

I haven't posted in a million years. I'm into my Spring semester. I'm only taking one class this semester, General Chem II. I did manage to pass my classes last semester, but I would like to do much better this semester, which is why I decided to take only one class.

Otherwise everything is pretty much the same. Work is really starting to wear on me. I'm seriously thinking about leaving, putting my notice in, and moving across the country, working whatever job comes my way and just take a break from this stress filled monster known as Human Services. Ugh.

One thing I do have to look foward to is Anime Expo in June. The biggest anime convention in the country. Yah! ;D

Well anyway, since Sunday is my catch-up day, I better get back to homework, laundry, cleaning.
