Title: The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games Trilogy #1)
Author: Suzanne Collins
Page Count: 374
Date Started: Jan 1, 2012
Date Finished: Jan. 3, 2012
Read On: Paperback

Summary:  In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlaying districts.  The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them to all send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.  Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games.  But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature.  Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender.  But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Review:   I pretty much like everything in this book.  The plot was good, the characters were awesome and the overall feel of the book was amazing.  You feel for all of the characters you're supposed to feel for, and dislike all of the ones you're supposed to dislike.  The setting and the Hunger Games themselves lend themselves to the book in a way that even without the movie coming out, you can picture it without any problems.  All in all the only thing I didn't like while I was reading was the beginning, but now that's grown on me too.
5/5 stars, can't wait to read Catching Fire.

Note:  Not a very long review, but I'll write more later.

I have finished two more books just in time for the new year!  This brings my total books read since around December 25th to five!  :D  I guess it's a good thing I don't have a real big social life!  XD

Anyhoo, to the reviews!

Now, this isn't an actual review for the 50 book challenge, but it is a review.  It's just a practice one to work out the kinks on how I'm going to write them out.  So here we go! :D

Date Started: Nov. 28, 2011
Date Finished: Dec. 28, 2011 (Note I had only 4% read by Dec. 25, so really I started on that date, but I was lazy and didn't get around to reading until then.)
Read On: Kindle

Liked Best: The plot, a good majority of the characters, the use of blog posts here and there.
Liked Least: The feeling of the main characters attitude, the writing became awkward at times.
Thoughts:  A good sit down read, one I would recommend, but not a book I'll re-read any time soon.

I know the review isn't too fleshed out, but it shows the basic principle of what I'm planning to do.  At least I hope so.  Now, I'm off to bed, m'sleepy.

For I still live!

Its been a while journal and I'm sorry.  I really should write here more! XD

I'm still working on my steampunk drabbles/shortfics.  It's just taking me a while to get the ol' writing cogs to go a'turnin.

I've also been watching more anime again, and also watching dramas.  While not surfing TV tropes... Sad I know...

I'm also going to be doing a reading challenge for next year!  Yay!  :3  Gotta break in the kindle I got for myself for Christmas.

Books are going to be updated on this post here:
http://geekapocalypsa.dreamwidth.org/3185.html

Wish me luck!  And the new shortfic should be up soon!  Most likely after I finish the book I'm currently reading.

Found a good book site that recommends books after you rate other books you've read.  Kind of like netflix, but with books, and it actually gets a pretty close guess at what you would like after you rate a bunch of books.

I also got a kindle, so I've been downloading samples and adding the ones I like to the -to read list on the site.

I've been tweeting a lot and I think I got my friend into it too.  :D Yay!

Nothing embarrassing, just normal stuff like I heart cold pizza and the like.

So yeah...

Wings of Chance is a Steampunk drabble/minific series I'm starting. Got a few ideas for a few of the prompts on a table I made using a random word generator.

*crosses fingers*  Let's do this! :D

I slept ALL day!  ALL FREAKING DAY!  How did that happen?  I briefly remember waking up to go to by balcony so my mom and step-dad could throw something up to me, but that's it...

Though my dreams were really awesome though... One was Fringe-ish inspired.  I was part of some task force or something and we were dealing with some people we captured and 'froze'.  They were beginning to unfreeze, but we quickly refroze them, but one guy who was frozen playing some handheld game system was revealed to be heating up and still melting the ice he was froze in.  Then we unfroze him and started talking to him...  The dream itself was pretty cool, goes right up there with the Yugioh/Dinosaur Hunter dream and the Pirate/I MUST SAVE MY BEST FRIEND WHO WAS CAPTURED dream.  I have very strange but intensely awesome dreams it seems.  All in color too...

That Yugioh/Dinosaur Hunter one still throws me off some still, like how in the hell did my brain come up with that mess?

Then again it comes up with some nasty nightmares too though... Like the one set in ancient China with some dude running away from some crows, getting pecked by them, proceeding to hide in a sack, closing the opening only to open it back up since it was filled with cobras, all the while screaming as a crow rests on his shoulder, plucks out his eye and it turns all white and starts to glow, the view gets closer to it as it turns into the moon...and then I woke up... That happened when I was the ages 5-8, the exact time is fuzzy, but the dream stays vivid in my mind...  The hell brain... Then there was the other one that solidified my fear of swarms of ants... But that's another story for another post maybe...

Made cheesy broccoli soup mix with added broccoli, cauliflower and celery last night... Think I'll have some more...  It's taaaasssstttyyyyy... Om-nom-nom...

Wow. I haven't posted anything in a while have I? ...

Anyhoo. Same old, same old really... Comics pile is huge, just in time for the new 52 too. Ha, ha...ha. Grabbing all that seems interesting to me and then some. Will have to make a new pull list in the near future. Loki's still a kid in the main 616 universe at Marvel though, so that's good...

Also have been so excited for the new MLP:FiM season, only to find out that after this next episode there's going to be a month long drought of new episodes... Wrrryyyyyy?!

Feels much like the wait for the Avengers movie. With every new picture my impatience grows.

Guess I'll just have to distract myself by playing Pokemon SoulSilver and Black...

And so, yeah... that's all for now...

So yeah, I've been trying to organize my fandom bookmarks in the bookmark bars to no avail. So now I'm trying to upload all my favorite (Holy Snikt! I actually spelled favorite right on the first attempt!) fanfiction and fanart to it... I'm either stupid or incredibly insane...

Hey I just noticed the Switch account link by the Post as: name... ADD FTW!

Anyway, back to delicious. So far it hasn't been too tough, but that's only because I have so little fan stuff for Marvel and DC... Once I get to Star Trek stuff... Oh god... If no one hears from me in a while, send an internet search party...

Speaking of comics, I've widdled my way down my stack-o-comics to a pretty small one... But since for some reason I can't seem to read comics at home, they'll just have to wait until before I go to work. I read them in the car before going in... Shut it, I know I'm weird.

Oh yeah! And I saw Thor a week or two ago! Eee! It was so awesome... Loki! Thor! Loki! Clint!(In his two seconds of glory) Loki! Sleipnir! Loki! Jane! Jane! Darcy!

Hahahahaha! Yeah...

So I've been busy with work and stuff, y'know like the rest o' the rat race. Still reading comics, lurking in fandom, watching anime, reading manga, intermittently playing WoW, visiting friends, yadda yadda...

What's new though?

Lately, I've been watching Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and I can't get ENOUGH!!! Everything about it is just amazingly entertaining. And my mind keeps on switching on it thinking the guy who voices Tony sounds like RDJ or not. I like the guy who voiced Tony in the Ultimate Avengers movies a little bit better, but the fact that this guy sounds a lot like RDJ helps him edge forward.

Also, my comics pile is growing, mostly because I haven't been reading much lately... I've been trying to tackle it slowly, so if I don't call, send a search party. I'll post another entry on some of them later.

And finally, KID!LOKI IS SO GOSH DERN CUUUUTE!

I was hoping they would allow people to join without an invite for a while! Mostly because I'm a stinking coward... D: Or shy? Lets go with that...

Mostly joined for scans_daily... And I thought this place had more userpic space... But alas!

Meh...
