New SportsLife College Football Preview At LifeEpicurean.com: The Big East

The Big East has developed a bit of a reputation as the Rodney Dangerfield of the major BCS conferences-getting no respect. Despite the fact that they fielded a number of talented teams, and produced no fewer than 3 first round draft picks in the NFL Draft. The fact is, there’s plenty of talent to be had out of the Big East, and with a number of interesting stories happening at a number of schools, the Big East may well produce another new conference champion, and another school may rise from the ashes to see itself in a BCS Bowl. With a variety of schemes being employed, and with some top tier talent in the conference, there’s no shortage of exciting games on the schedule, and no shortage of teams primed to shatter the perception of the Big East as a second tier conference. With a lot of teams to like, and none that stand out, SportsLife will break down the grain from the chaff. READ MORE HERE.

SportsLife 2009 College Football Season Preview: The SEC

The conference that is seemingly the king of the mountain in NCAA football, the Southeastern Conference, has yet again produced the National Champion, for the third time in three years, and once again, it’s the Tim Tebow & Urban Meyer-led Florida Gators. It truly must be great to be a Florida Gator, but will it be again this year? Do the Crimson Tide of Alabama have the bodies to make up for their losses in players moving on to the NFL? Can the LSU Tigers once again let the nation hear the roar of the Bayou Bengals? Are the Bulldogs of UGA ready to finally be the National Title threat they have been billed as? Who are the dark horses? With no further ado, we begin our 2009 College Football Preview with the SEC. READ MORE HERE.

Oh, and in further news, GO GATORS! I mean, I'm from Iowa and all, but I'll be walking through the airport on my way home doing the Gator Chomp at all those poor Hawkeyes... Mainly because they were pretty unfun to be around the last time we played each other.

Sublease Feb-Aug, $395/mo

Ordinarily I wouldn't do this, because I think it's tacky, but I just found out the girl I was going to sublease my place to was kind of a crackhead. And that's no good. So if anyone is interested, I am subleasing a one bedroom apartment from February 1 to August 1. I will be coming back from New Zealand in August, so I am leaving the place more or less furnished. I'll take out my books and extra clothes and whatnot, and you will likely need a bed (because my futon is shite) but it's a great place, with wood floors and trees all around. It's only fifteen minutes by bike to the UF campus, and I'm even including my bike in the rent... which is $395 a month (not incl. utilities, which are normally about $50). My landlord is quality, and the place is half of a house, so NO ROOM MATES and only a few great neighbors. We mostly keep to ourselves, but it is a great plce to live.
If you're interested, email me at jaimsey@ufl.edu or talk to me on AIM (handle: digyourbones). I have pictures.

Anyone got any anti-vol or humorous vol pics they wanna share?
I have some pro-gators images as well that I have found along the way.

I specifically need some for some smack talk. For instance.. like this one:

I know a lot of people want to do something tangible to help the situation in NO. One of the VSers, a UF professor, tracked down Danny and he has this message for anyone that wants to help:

http://www.mudlizard.com/swamp/dis…

Just spoke to Danny Wuerffel..."

...he and his family are safe and sound in FWB. His home is destroyed (water up to the roof), as is the Desire Street Ministries site. He said that, of the two major levee breaches, one was right next to DSM and the other was right next to his house.

Of course, his concerns are with the families that DSM works with. Danny and the staff at DSM are working furiously to track down these families, and he just got a call from Texas where 31 of them had been kicked out of a hotel because they have no money. Right now, what they need most is money. He's concerned that money from the Red Cross may not filter down to the families in the Desire Street neighborhood as much as it as needed there, so he was happy to hear there were Gators and others out there willing to donate directly. This is one way you can donate money that you KNOW every penny will go to help those in desperate need.

He said that there are two ways to donate money to help out. The best way is to mail a check, payable to Desire Street Ministries to

Whitney National Bank
Mail Teller
1716 Mangum Road
Houston, TX 77092

The other way is to donate electronically through www.networkforgood.org -- enter the keyword as "Desire Street Ministries" and the state as Louisiana. Keep in mind, though, that this web site charges a 3% fee. So, mailing a check is best, especially if you plan to make a substantial donation.

Come on, Gators, this is your chance to make a real difference!

PLEASE SEND THIS INFO TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW

Dunwoody man, disgruntled over zoning, engages in Gator-garish civil protest

Published on: 07/30/05

Things got ugly after Daryl R. Cook's neighbors turned against him. Really ugly.

Cook spray-painted his Dunwoody ranch house bright orange and blue. After all, he's a University of Florida graduate. But he wasn't done.
