Thank you so much for your collection of human and elf faces. For projects like ProjektMyra (find the Wiki on myra.fandom.com and publications on DriveThrRPG under Verein der Freunde Myras e.V. - readable for free on Issuu and Calameo) by a near-unlimited number of text-first-people this is a life-saver, especially as we stay free of AI-"art". I happily contributed some Euros for both from my pockets, so that people in our chartered nonprofit can use the art for free - and so that you keep motivated to do this again!.
I loved the pack so much that I already have an idea of what to do with it!
Send me a link if you publish it somewhere!
Sure
I'd like to throw these into a quickstart I'm writing. Would you like to be credited as anything apart from GatlingArt?
Just @GatlingArt/GatlingArt is fine, yes!
Do send a link when you do so I can check it out :)
Great work! Perfect for adventures with lots of NPCs!
I hope it helps some DMs to put faces on characters on the spot, thanks!
Inspiring work! Reminds me a ton of tower dungeons style.
It is very inspired by that style, I have been following the manga since the beginning
Expressive, stylish, and no AI—what more could a GM ask for?
A DM could ask for other races, which is something I'm considering doing too...
Thanks for the kind words!
Would 100% love similar packs for other races. This is awesome
First I'm going to do a 100 Sci fi Human Face pack though!
These are all amazing. As others have said they are very expressive but I also absolutely love the manga style they have. They ooze personality. It reminds me a bit of Ryoko Kui’s faces.
Ryoko Kui is super good at keeping the anime style but making characters have very different faces, it's a great compliment!
This style is closer to Tower Dungeon with maybe a little bit of Ranking of Kings, I would say
It is! I haven’t read tower dungeon yet and I totally should. I also just tried this for a dungeon crawl solo run and it surprised me how gender-neutral many of these portraits are. Which is a great thing! I’m def printing a complete run of these to give to my players in the future. (Also some faces are gruesome which compliments perfectly the vibes of most modern OSR games like Knave!)
It's not like I specifically tried to make them gender neutral but it's something that keeps coming up in the faces I draw ever since I started doing art, I'm glad it's useful!
You are not gonna believe this but I also run Knave 2e for a megadungeon west marches campaign I run (with some homebrew rules and races).
Por cierto te stalkee un poco y soy español!! Qué coincidencia todo
El rol nos cría y el viento nos junta :p Yeah Knave 2e has become my default “D&D-like” game for dungeon crawling and general B/X compatible gaming. I’ve hacked it extensively too, there’s just something about dungeon fantasy that keeps me coming back and that ruleset specifically may not be the most elegant or innovative but it’s certainly extremely functional.
Out of curiosity, do you run your west marches in spanish or english? If you are interested we might exchange hacks and house rules some time :) Anyways, saludos desde Argentina! Very much looking forward to your next projects, your art is awesome!
(forgot to reply, sorry!)
I run my campaign in both because I have half half players from Spain and players from other parts of Europe.
We should exchange rules some time, I would love to hear your opinion on Gold as XP, I'm thinking of prioritizing Feats of Exploration due to the nature of this dungeon and my players
Wow I love how expressive and full of personality they are while still being very minimalist. Great work, thank you for sharing these! Now I just need to pick which one to use as my next player character
Enjoy! I wanted to give them some personality while still being usable for other contexts outside of their most obvious looks. Happy to know you will use one for your character!
Nice!
Thank you! I'm planning on releasing a Sci-fi pack too at some point :)
Fantastic, go on with it! I think they are a really good exercise for you, something like a daily speed-painting, from what I can suppose.
It wss originally an exercise to umprove on faces and stylization but I decided that I should do them and share them wuth someone instead of them just being on my PC
