It's been, well, interesting. Chris took Dad to the VA in Loma Linda for an appointment. Sadly, the car conked out before they could get home. It was a simple fix, allowing us to get the car the next day. Chris' family has been a godsend. Whilst they were in Loma Linda, Al (another cousin staying next door) brought me food and made sure I was fine, bless him. He took Chris to get the car the next day. Our Taurus doesn't even have 100K miles on it.

Earlier today we had more family visit us. Uncle Dave and Marybel brought my uncle Dalton. It was nice to see them, and I showed off my weight loss. Monroe had to pose for everyone. He's a shameless tabby.

I'm now at 272.2 lb so far. That's 67.8 lbs off. I'm stunned.

Dad is walking more with PT. He is grumpier, though. He even yelled at Chris. The hemiplegia frustrates him no end.

I have a frustration of my own. My wonderful laptop died. I stupidly didn't back up all of my games and documents. Now, I lost 18 pages of a story I was writing. May I scream now? (I have a new naptop, but it's not as powerful as my HP Omen.)

Achilles has been demanding more cuddles. He's polite about it.

I just got on the scale. I'm 276.0 lbs. I am blown away! That's 64 lbs I've lost. Ozempic and Jardiance are working. My A1c is in the six range instead of over eight, which is why I'm taking them in the first place. Having fewer tissues to be resistant to insulin probaby doesn't hurt.

I am in less pain than I have been in years. There aren't any more hot (or cold) flashes. Menopause has touched me so lightly that I didn't notice the transition.

It is hot. Record-setting hot. We wouldn't afford the cooling if it weren't for the solar panels. Adding the insulation when we did the house keeps things even as well.

Dad can stand and pivot solo now. He gets in his wheelchair and slowly moves around the house, usually to the kitchen when his blood sugar tanks. The cats visit for attention, and he loves it.

Bear got on my walker instead of Monroe for the first time. Funny girl.
The treasonweasel started a war. Damn it! This won't end well. We need to vote Democrat across the board.

I weigh 282.4 lb now! That's 57.6 lb I've lost. I haven't weighed this in a decade. Ozempic and Jardiance are working, and the stomach pain is minimal. A whole fruit and juice popsicle helps a lot. In November, I was in ICU for a day because there weren't any beds in PCU open yet. That was where I found out ice chips will do the job almost as well. Clothes are starting to hang on me now. I'm down to size 3x/4x instead of 5x. The skin on my body is starting to wrinkle due to less fat underneath.

Dad walked with the home PT lady and a walker. Yes! He's slowly improving.

Bear is stable on phenobarb since she has no seizure activity now. The bacon-flavored paste Chris hides the pill in appeals to her.

Funny: our car is 19 years old and we still haven't hit 100,000 miles.

On February 23d, Chris and I will have been married 24 years, and knowing each other for 27 years. We have no clue what we're doing. I hope he picks up a nice dinner or has it delivered.

He's an amazing man. His energy is so nice, I could sit near him for hours saying nothing and be content. Chris is also a fine cat daddy. Just ask the cats. Love me, love my cats.

I lived in MN for a few years. Uncle Hugo's in St. Paul was a favorite destination when we went to MSP. I am heartbroken. They killed an RN, damn them! Why do men with small souls have such big guns?

We are members of one race: the human race, and our membership card is our navel.

Maybe it isn't so bad that I'm housebound. Watching NHK-World is easier on my heart. I just don't want to see the hate that's out there now.

Come on, folx. Vote Democrat. Yes, those who knew me in ac may remember I was a Republican for decades. Thank President Obama for the change. I'm trying to make up for my years of error.

God jul og godt nytt år!

We had ham and baked potatoes. Chris did it since Dad's stroke prevents him from doing much of anything, to his frustration. The cats were asking for ham, of course.

We have rain.

One more Christmas carol.

Cat Toy Bells

Dashing through the house,
And jumping high and low,
We chase a catnip mouse,
As fast as we can go.
The mouse is old and worn,
And we bit off its tail,
What fun to rip the stuffing out,
And leave a catnip trail!

Chorus:
Oh, cat toy bells, cat toy bells,
Ringing loud and clear.
Oh, what fun, to play and pounce,
When Christmastime is here!

I found a fuzzy ball,
That jingled when it bounced,
I rolled it down the hall,
And when it stopped I pounced.
The ball stayed where it lay,
I'd tired it out at last,
And then it tried to get away,
But I was much too fast!

Chorus:
Oh, cat toy bells, cat toy bells,
Ringing loud and clear.
Oh, what fun, to play and pounce,
When Christmastime is here!

First, I have two versions of one carol, then another carol.

Deck the halls with catnip mousies
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Wreck the tree and blame the doggies
Fa la la la la, la la la la...

Wreck the Halls

Wreck the halls and steal the ribbons.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Christmas time`s such fun for kittens.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

We like to help you with the wrapping.
Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
No fair do it when we`re napping.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

So many gifts beneath the tree.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Is there a present just for me.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Rip the wrap to sneak a peek.
Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Is it a fuzzy toy I seek.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas my Human gave to me.....

Twelve cans of tuna.
Eleven furry cat toys.
Ten shiny ribbons.
Nine cat dancers.
Eight bowls of cream.
Seven goldfish swimming.
Six litter boxes.
Five...catnip...mice.
Four scratching posts.
Three cat treats.
Two cozy beds.
And a deluxe new cat tree.

Silent Mouse

Silent mouse, little gray mouse,
How you creep, round my house.
Don't you know you're a plaything to me,
Don't you know I'm your enemy.
Better get out while you can,
Better get out while you can.

Silent mouse, little gray mouse,
Still you creep, round my house,
I'm so tired of your squeaking,
Tired of hearing folks shrieking,
This will be your last warning,
Better get out while you can.

Silent mouse, little gray mouse,
All is calm, round my house.
From your hole you silently crept,
From the shadows I silently leapt.
I can sleep in peace,
I can sleep in peace.

I turned 60 today. I don't feel my age. Admittedly, when I feel ill, I feel like I'm 160. Sigh.

Chris' respite caregiver was here so he could go shop for food without worries. I can't do anything for Dad except yell for Chris. Frustrating. She has a cat, so all three of ours came to see her. Monroe was first, of course. He's a shameless flirt. Yes, she saw Achilles. He usually hides around strangers.

The renal colic is decreasing. I must be passing the new stone.

Chris bought stollen at Aldi. Yum! It reminds me of Milwaukee. Now I'm homesick as well. I can't win.

Well, I had my first home health nurse visit. I'll have a month or two of weekly visits. It's mostly wound care, plus PT will be back. The decubitus is healing well, with just a couple of small open spots. The RN did wound care and put silver-impregnated dressings on. Monroe just had to come sniff him up. Flirt. Bear and Achilles showed themselves so he could coo at them. Achilles rarely comes out for new people.

The turkey turned out well. Chris had to cook dinner, as Dad can't do anything except advise from his hospital bed. He hates the limits the CVA imposed.

Let's see: abdominal and flank pain, nausea, and somewhat bloody urine. Looks like another damned kidney stone. Ow.

They discharged me last night at 2100. I'm home. Home health will be following up. I can breathe more easily, and my decubitus is healing well. PT should be here as well, as I've lost ground.

The cats had to smell everything. Monroe was on my wheelchair, playing Lord And Master. Of course, I showed everyone the cat pics, including the video of Monroe on the treadmill. That boy is smart and weird.

Thanks, folx. It's good to be home.

My wound is healing. Breathing is easier. I just got back from a walk with PT, and I did 45 ft. Whee!

With any luck, I may avoid a week-long stay. The IV antibiotics continue.

Case management has been here to make sure I have what I need when I go home.

Everyone is so nice! The shampoo caps are a luxury. My baths leave me smelling good in short order.

I was moved to the stepdown unit today from ICU. They have me on a soft diet at last.

Alas, I have a stage 2 decubitus on my sacrum. OW!

I'm better.

Dad's home! The ambulance brought him here a couple of days ago, after his equipment was delivered. He tries to get up himself, though we keep telling him no. His right side is still quite useless. That frustrates all of us. The home health RN should be here today to assess him. The cats are happy to have their servant home.

Dad needs more care than I do. Go figure. Chris requires more sleep since he was diagnosed with CHF and had the stents placed. Me, I require supervision when I walk, and he has to bring me stuff like meals.

His home health RN is assessing him. We checked that he isn't allergic to cats. Good!

NO!

( Sep. 17th, 2025 01:28 pm)
Haven't we been through enough? Chris got a call this AM. His stool sample tested positive for cancer. The next step is a colonoscopy. We aren't sure at all if he has cancer. Also, his PSA was borderline high. Yes, he has BPH, but that doesn't mean he has cancer. I am officially scared. It's bad enough he has CHF and a couple of stents placed. He's more tired than he was.

I still hope I die first. I can't live without him.
