FreakEngine Events Update

Hey kids!

Rather than some long diatribe on how there’s no reason to miss the show just to see a silly concert, I figured that I would just tell you about the next two weeks’ amazing events. Also, If you don’t come to Friday’s FreakEngine Show, terrible things could happen to puppies, kittens and small children might cry. Your choice, folks.

An event a year in the making, sketch comedy will return to Memphis on May 9, 2008. Don’t miss it. The Wiseguys Sketch Project is made up mostly of members of Wiseguys/FreakEngine, with a little help from their friends. but on May 9, the improv kids had better have their lines memorized.

8:00 pm @ TheatreWorksAdmission - $7 at the door, $5 in advance at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/e….

Following last year’s sold out show, performers from three of Memphis’ improvisational theater shows are joining together again for another group exhibition of improv talent. Members of FreakEngine, The Wise Guys and Running Gag are joining forces for “The 2nd Annual Memphis Improv All-Stars Cage Match”, a competitive improvisational comedy show to be held at 8:00 pm May 10, 2008 at TheatreWorks, located at 2085 Monroe Ave. Admission is $7.

Hosted by MemphisFreakEngine Productions, the event will group the performers in two teams who will then challenge each other to successive rounds of entertaining improvisational comedy games. The show will feature several well-known improv games, made popular by such television shows as “Whose Line Is It Anyway”. Also featured, will be signature games from each of the three represented shows’ line-ups. The winning team will be chosen by the audience.

This is just your friendly reminder that this Friday, April 4th, is the monthly FreakEngine show. This month we are celebrating the yearly holiday of japes and pranks, jokes and gags, with our Annual FreakEngine Joke Show. This month we’ll be taking time out to let you, the audience, tell some of your favorite jokes and the troupe will judge who tells the funniest and will award a really cool cash prize.

So, just in case you can’t remember, the show is this Friday, April 4th, at midnight at TheatreWorks at 2085 Monroe in Overton Square. Admission is still only $5, so if you don’t bring all your friends, you’re not just a fool, you’re a cheap fool as well.

FreakEngine's New Year's Madness and MouseTraps

It's not too late to welcome in the New Year. At least, it's not too late the way we do it with
FreakEngine's New Year's Madness and MouseTraps.

That's right, folks. This is not your everyday, ordinary FreakEngine show filled with hilarious improv theater and surprising insanity. This is the show that you'll be talking about all year long.

We've got some of your favorite games and a few new ones that have been shown in recent studies to have almost lethal comic potential. And did someone mention MouseTraps?

Okay, sure. Perhaps it's not the traditional way to celebrate a new year, but we like to do it by playing Marco Polo blindfolded and barefoot on a stage of live mouse traps.

Admission, as always, is only $5 so don't be cheap and bring a friend. You can find the insanity at TheatreWorks on Overton Square, 2085 Monroe Avenue. The ball drops at midnight, but get there early or you might be sorry.

Sounds like fun, huh? See you there!

And so the holiday sets in ...

How often have you experienced a "last" with the knowledge that it was going to be the last time?

I realize that in life, we don't often know when "the last" of anything is going to be.  If we did, perhaps we would appreciate each and every one a bit more.

I hope everyone has a happy holiday.
