Ramblings of a Film- and Ship-o-holic

Recently I got addicted to Dr Who :)
Thanks to digital TV and BBC 3 and 4 they are showing dr who almost every night. I just couldn't resist. Started with a mix of season 4 and 2. It made me absolutely love David Tennant.
Been watching season 1 and also love Christopher Eccleston. I got into the whole Doctor/Rose ship. I also love Doctor/Donna. ...also very twisted tenth dr/ninth dr/rose...just stumbled on that...loved it *EG*
Currently I'm buying all the DVD boxes because I just can't wait for TV and I want all the eps.

Just saw Humane Nature and The family of Blood and I got totally choked up. I love that this series makes me laugh and cry of sadness at the same time.
I absolutly love the human touch of Russel T Davis writing (I know Human nature isn't from him). I love how he writes the companion and her family storylines. He makes sure it's about the characters and not gimmicks and technobable.
I also have to watch Queer as Folk now. Heard great things about it. So I will watch if after dr who.

Been watching Comic Relief this weekend.

It's been a while since I laughed so hard. :)

I've just downloaded the DR. Horrible soundtrack at Itunes and it's fantastic.
I already had all the ripped songs...just to tie me over. The official version is so much better. You can hear a lot of detail you miss on the hulu rip version.
I hope that they also will release a CD version, because I would love the put the soundtrack on my mp3 player and I don't have a Ipod so that will be problematic.
Yesterday I was telling everyone I wouldn't buy songs anymore at Itunes due to the strict DRM they are using..but for Joss I make an exception.

Edit to say that the Soundtrack is DRM free. Joss is truely god :-0 

OMG can it really be happening: Evil Dead 4!
I was looking for some Evil Dead info when I stumbled on this news. Sam Rami has confirmed that he is working on Evil Dead 4 and that Bruce Campbell is also signed up!!!
I almost given up hope I hope they really going through with it now

Someone posted the 4 minute pilot of Buffy the Animated series on youtube.
It was never further developed by Fox, but it gives an insight of how it could be.



I absolutly don't get why they didn't develop this further. Fox didn't want to make a TV show of direct to DVD series :( To bad because it's really good.

I'm so glad to see this, if only because we got new BTVS dialogue by the original characters (except buffy ofcourse) .
How I've missed Snarky Giles and how Xander made me laugh with "The harder they what?"
...and I know it's the end of the world because Buffy is wearing sensible shoes! ;-)

It's set in season 1...which explaines some character traits I first didn't get. Such as Giles accent being uber-stuffy and Willow totally freaking out by the fact that Buffy fought with a Vamp. But if it's set in early S1 it makes sence.
...I so need to watch BTVS all over again. I'm currently watching Angel season 3 but I just can't get into it :( Never a big fan of Angel, Darla, Dru and their background story...so you can see the problem ;-) I do love Cordy, Wes, the host and Fred.
So I probably put Angel on hold and start over again with Buffy. Maybe this time I can get myself to watch season 6 and 7 too.

I'm getting slightly depressed because I realize it's the last new Buffy we'll ever get. Don't get me wrong I really like S8 the comics but I do so miss the orginal voices and actors/characters.

I've just watched Dr. Horrible's Sing a long blog and I absolutely love it!!!
I really need to get one of those ' Jos Whedon is my Master' t-shirts now :)
After the first part I didn't think it couldn't get any better..oh boy was I wrong part 2 is fantastic.

Great acting by all, the songs are an instant hit and they actually move the story along and are an intergral part of the story. It's funny, gripping and moving. I'm actually feeling sorry for Dr Horrible and disliking Captain Hammer....never thought that was possible with Nathan Fillion playing him! :)
Just as in Buffy he makes the underdog the unexpected figure, Dr. Horrible, the hero.

I definitely buying the DVD, Soundtrack and I really want too buy a Dr Horrible T-shirts. To bad I can't get eps through European Itunes. Would love to see it on a better quality and Joss & Co deserve every penny of it.

For people who don't know about this. The writers of a lot of  (major) hollywood series are on strike at the moment to get fair compensation for the work they do. Main issue is payment for internet use and download. Currently the writers don't get anything. And only $ 0.04 per DVD.

For the first time also fans have spoken up in support to the writers. One of the inititatives is Pencils2MediaMoguls where the fans sent (truck loads) of pencils to the networks to let them know we support the writers in their strike.

It's $1 for dozen pencils and you can name the series you support.

I've donated $5 and I hope more people will show their support the same way.

I haven't posted in ages...well make that almost a year.
I have been on LJ though, enjoying my flist and reading and participating in the many fandom groups  I'm a member of.
But you know how it goes... due to work I don't have a lot of time online and once I've checked out my flist and read as much fanfic as I can *G* I'm often to tired and/or don't have the time to post at my own LJ.

I've decided that due to how LJ/6A dealing with fandom I don't want to give them my money anymore.  My paid account expires in september and I won't renew it. Their actions really pisses me off. I hate the hypocritical stance of LJ towards for the fandom community.
I see it now mainly in the HP fandom, but it's spreading.
They are on a witch hunt (no pun intended) against anything sexual in the HP fandom underaged or not! What part of fictional character don't they understand!

According to 6A views I'm probably a pedophile *snorts* because I love fanfic with a age difference and also Slash *gasps* . Like Buffy/Giles, Giles/Oz, Snape/Hermione, Snape/Harry. Also Faith/Buffy, House/Cameron, Kirk/Spock (pfew got away there / sarcasm) .

If they want to 'clean up their act' Ok I don't like it but lets me fair then and not so hypocritical. Lets not just ban people who are into fictional character sex and go after the fandoms, but also investigate groups who are hurting people in Real Life. So what did I learn from 6A:

• Sex is bad,
• Homosexuality is bad
• sex with fictional characters is worse,
• thread your customers badly and lie to them

....I wonder why I won't give them my money anymore.

I'll keer my free account because of my flist and because of my main fandoms (HP, BTVS and House) are located here.
Does anyone have advice what other good communities are. Maybe greatest journal, Insane Journal or Journal Fen ?
