Avengers - We Make Our Dreams Come True

(no subject)

Here are two things that are not connected, except for both being discovered last night. I am going to pretend that's a theme to this post though, okay?

(1)

WINTER SOLDIER ALL BUT CONFIRMED FOR SDCC!

Twitter, for the past month or so, has had a lot of gossip about how Marvel has D23 so they won't be showing up at Comic Con. APPARENTLY THAT IS INCORRECT. BRB working on my completely sane camping-out-overnight plans.

I posted fic!

Just Close Your Eyes and Make Believe (6622 words) by Amy
Fandom: A-Babies Vs. X-Babies, Marvel 616, The Avengers (2012), Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Avengers - Ambiguous Fandom
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Bucky Bear & Steve Rogers, Bucky Bear & Natasha Romanov, Steve Rogers & Natasha Romanov, Bucky Bear & Steve Rogers & Natasha Romanov, Clint Barton & Natasha Romanov, Bruce Banner & Natasha Romanov
Characters: Natasha Romanov, Steve Rogers, Bucky Bear, Clint Barton
Additional Tags: Red Room, Winter Soldier - Freeform, why isn't Bucky Bear a recognized character tag?, this is a pre-school retelling of the Winter Soldier storyline, i'd apologize but i'm not really sorry, playing fast and loose with various marvel canons, does this count as age regression fic?, it's Muppet Babies but with Avengers instead of Muppets, gratuitous cameos from Marvel comics
Summary: Natasha found a battered teddy bear at the playground and took him home to fix. She didn't realize he'd belonged to anyone else first.

(Or, the one where victoria_p did that "tell me what story you think I should write!" meme so I did and she said no, I should write write this one. And then I did. And that is this.)

Apparently- thoroughly accidentally- today is a Winter Soldier-y day! Go read maybe? :D?

Avengers - We Make Our Dreams Come True

Gratuitous Fandom March Madness Post

Hey you know that thing where fandom march madness is light and fun and fluffy and a chance to blow off some steam?

IT IS NONE OF THOSE THINGS IT IS WAR.

Martha Jones is great and I respect all of you who make that incorrect life choice but SERIOUSLY JUST GO VOTE FOR NATASHA IT WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER I WILL MAKE YOU A CAKE.

(I don't know how to bake. That's really more of a threat.)

(I will make a collage of the awesome of Martha Jones? IDK if that's incentive or not, but I WILL SERIOUSLY DO IT IF NATASHA PROGRESSES TO THE NEXT ROUND.)

(It's actually been super awesome watching two female characters who fandom routinely beats down on being actually tied for most of the past 24 hours, but I am done with awesome now, I care only for blood.)

(Those of you who intend to vote for Martha, I love you, but please ignore this post.)

Also. VMars kickstarter. That's certainly a thing that's happening, hmm?

Invisible Guitars

Miscellany

The story I keep thinking about, which I will never write but which someone else should, is the one where Kate Bishop is Peter Bishop's cousin and after they meet Olivia gets recruited for SHIELD and/or the Avengers and brings Astrid and Broyles with her and possibly one of them hooks up with Natasha. I feel this would solve like 90% of my problems with Fringe being over. (I have still not watched s5. I don't want to watch it til I'm fully spoiled and know ahead of time how much it will break my heart. I have a lot of Olivia Dunham feelings.)

I posted a story today, but not that one. It is an Avengers ficlet, Like Goddamn Rodent Christmas (600 words, gen), because when your fandom has a character named Phil, you are contractually obligated to use that. I was going to post the request as an AvengerKink prompt, but I figured the odds were pretty great they'd go Furry on it, so I opted to handle it myself.

Today has been a day of emotional fragility for me- I'm hoping that tonight I will expand it to emotional fragility and laundry because I am out of clean socks- so naturally the story is just fluff that pretty much ignores feelings entirely, which I'm pretty sure means I can't even count it as a productive use of my time.

Oh, but I did put my name in for the Words and Deeds meme 2.0, because I missed the first iteration. And I spent a while lying in bed pondering exactly what my boundaries are in the hopes that will help me articulate them better, although all that happened was I fell asleep. Can I count either of those as an accomplishment?

I'm never sure how to decide that my weekend has been productive. There should be some kind of helpful graph.

L'Engle - Gaudior

LOGICAL PROOF

IF
There is such thing as a tesseract!" (A WRINKLE IN TIME)

AND
"Mother's youngest brother, the one Charles is named after, is off somewhere on some kind of secret mission, we don't know where." (A HOUSE LIKE A LOTUS)

THEN
the only logical explanation is that Charles Wallace Murry grows up to become Phil Coulson.

TELL ME IT DOESN'T ANSWER SO MANY QUESTIONS. JUST TRY.

Then I spent some time thinking about Natasha working with Poly and had a lot of feelings.

Avengers - Gentlemen

I honestly don't even know how I have this much to say about Avengers.

My life right now is pretty much divided into "things that make me almost black out from the sheer force of my anxiety" and "random fannish things."

So we're going to talk about the latter.

Collapse )

So if anyone wants to discuss any of those in comments with me that'd be swell.

And then they hook up. Guys, there is NO FINISHED NATASHA/YELENA FIC ON AO3. I assume this is a grievous oversight in uploading or a coding mistake or something, because otherwise I am incredibly sad.

(I can't write any, because I only have parts 2 and 3 of the Pale Little Spider arc. I'm hoping to pick up part 1 at NY Comic Con. For which, btw, I have just ordered my giant stuffed porpoise so I can make it a pipe-cleaner helmet. GOD EVERY TIME I WRITE A CLAUSE I SOUND CRAZIER.)

This reminds me, in a roundabout way, that I have not yet done my Yuletide noms. I'm trying to decide on my third request and it is HARDER THAN IT SOUNDS.

Oh, and I need to sign up for [community profile] femslash12. And [community profile] imadeathing.

Or possibly what I have to do is stop talking, because omg writing things out like this is not actually lessening my anxiety.

Avengers - Right After Thunder

Being an Avenger is tough work!

Hello, the internet! This is a post about Avengers stuff, since that is where the entirety of my fannish brain is lately, apparently.

(1)
[personal profile] spicedrum told me that Gwyneth Paltrow and Mark Ruffalo are co-starring in a movie about sex addiction.

BECAUSE OF COURSE THEY ARE.

I have decided the only rational explanation is that Avengers fandom is bending the universe.

Too many people cared too much. THE LAWS OF HUMANITY HAVE BROKEN.

(I can ONLY ASSUME if there were a SINGLE Jane/Natasha fic on AO3, Natalie Portman would not have backed out of the DNC. It's like how Tinkerbell can only exist if you believe in fairies. THANKS FANDOM.)

Remember this post, kids. When we find out that Jeremy Renner and Clark Gregg are co-starring in a buddy cop movie, I'm just going to say "I told you so."

Avengers - Gentlemen

Insert Avengers quote. Everyone else did.

It's... possible I watched all the Avengers DVD extras that got leaked, and then uploaded seven icons, and have three fics in process, and have been reading comics for additional canon. Maybe.

(There's a common theme in all of what I'm interested in in this fandom, but I've been pretty subtle, so there's an excellent chance you've missed it. Sorry; I know my opacity sometimes causes confusion.)

I was really stressing out today (not to mention yesterday, when I think I kind of scared my therapist), but right at this second I am not. I am actually feeling pretty calm, which is awesome. It's nice to be using fandom as an escape from anxiety. I forgot how effective it can be.

Big Brother - Wordle

A House Like No Other

The unfortunate thing about getting into a fandom with people in it is that I have been COMPLETELY REMISS in my Big Brother spoiler-sharing duties.

Collapse )

I got into a discussion on twitter the other day about how BB on its own, minus the feeds, isn't actually an interesting show. Because it's really not. I feel like maybe I haven't discussed that enough here, when I'm just evangelizing over how much I love it. The show can be compulsively watchable- it IS compulsively watchable, I think- but it's the feeds (whether you're watching them or reading recaps or what) that makes it interesting. Big Brother, the experience, involves watching the reality TV sausage get made, and it is WAY more interesting than people give it credit for.

So I know that once the show starts, it will be exciting me in a way that it just isn't yet. I have my normal pre-season apathy right now. But cast reveal is on July 2, and that's when I'll get excited, because that's when my random judging starts, and then the show starts ten days later and it becomes the constructed-reality-vs-manipulated-reality dichotomy that fascinates me. Right now I'm like "Yeah, whatever, it's coming back soonish. Can has Avengers?"

Speaking of which, today I bought a giant Black Widow wall decal. It's not a Jeff Probst standee, but I think it expresses my soul just as neatly.

Invisible Guitars

no smash needed today

I am pretty sure that I've written more fic in emails with [personal profile] spicedrum in the past two weeks or so than I wrote in two years. Or possibly four. Or six.

...I had not written things in a long time.

If Avengers did nothing in the world except give me that push back toward storytelling and fandom, it was totally worth it. The fact that it apparently made a ridiculously high amount at the box office and will lead to a bagazillion more movies is just a nice bonus.

♥♥♥

p.s. Here is an Avengers kiss meme. You should go play.
