This may not be the best place to ask a question like this, but I was wondering if there's anything in the Four Agreements that can help in dealing with potential health problems... particularly that time between knowing something is wrong and finding out what it is. All I've come up with is don't make assumptions about what's wrong so you don't work yourself up over nothing, the same way you do in relationships. Any other advice?
(crossposted, my apologies if you see this twice)
I am Bella - I'm 43 and have read this book many times over. I recently sent my personal copy to a friend of mine. I hope she likes it as much as I do. The group doesn't seem to be too active but perhaps we can remotivate ourselfs in making this a dynamic/discussion group.
On page 27 - he talks about our word and that it is pure magic - misuse of our word is black magic. I have found situations described where I have said something (usually due to tiredness to my daughter) and then regretted it. I find it is very very important for me to back to her (when I'm calm) and tell her how much I love her and that I wa wrong for saying whatever the way I said it. My message delivery was bad. There are times when I have to speak the truth and it can be hurtful, but choosing the right words and not tring to cause additional hurt and worry are very important.
How do you go about choosing the right words? How does one know when our word needs to be amended - and do we ask God first, how is this done?
One another note - Are you comfortable with incorporating your personal religion into these Agreements???

Do you remember when you first heard about 'The Four Agreements' book? What made you finally read it for the first time?
I first heard about it on the 'Oprah' show. I don't remember when but I'm guessing at the end of the 1990's since the book's copyright is 1997. I wonder if the concept of the 4 agreements came out before the book was written? I eventually put it on a list of books to read.
My last therapist (she's a art therapist) had the book with her at one of our sessions. She didn't want to give me her copy but she didn't always get them back! So I bought my own copy. I read parts of it so far.
What's your story?
Regards,
T.
I joined this community last year. I have read all the posts in here that I was interested in.
This is my first post. I bought 'The Four Agreements' earlier this year. I haven't read it all yet but will do that. I have this bad habit when it comes to reading non fiction. Instead of reading it page by page I jump back and forth. There is a resistance to get into the books in a deep way.
I was wondering does anyone still read and post in here? If I wanted to discuss something will I get any responses? 8o(
Bye for now
PS: I am also a member of the other '4 agreements' LJ community
I am in the process of having my life coaching website redone and would like to do some research. I could use your help. Just answer the following questions. No obligation and feel free to email them to me if you don't want to post it here (ally at allymoll dot com). I'm getting very excited about the revamping of my site and feeling like I found a good niche for my business :)
1. What is the one "big dream" you have for your life?
2. Have you acheived it or are you taking steps to start living your dream life?
3. If not, what is stopping you? Are you just putting it off (procrastinating) or do you feel it's an impossible dream?
Thanks everyone!
For those of you who believe in the power of prayer and positive energy--I'm setting aside tomorrow night (Wednesday the 31st) at 9:30pm Eastern Time as time for a few moments of prayers/healing energy/whatever you want to send to those affected by the Hurricane and flooding. If this speaks to you at all, please consider participating in whatever way is meaningful for you. And please spread the word throughout LJ!
x-posted lots of places

I think we can all agree this book has changed our lives. There are a lot of people who peek into this community, lets share what this book has done for us and what has been hard for us to do...everyone is different and will find different aspects easier than others. My belief the only way to truly fail is if you quit!
In what ways has the book "The Four Agreements" changed your life?
I have not only learned to see myself differently but to see others in a different light. I have gained more patients, understanding, compassion and peace within myself...and in doing this I give more to others in the same way. By making these four agreements my life, I have learned to love who I am, by not putting myself down. I don't join in gossip at work. I don't assume or take things personally. (well at least I strive for that...I still have moments I step back), but this is a learning process...it took me 40 something years to learn all the other useless agreements, it will take time to change some of them. But I continue to look forward and keep trying. I find I am much happier than I have ever been, and that in turn attracts positive things into my life. On the job and in my everyday life.
Which is the hardest agreement for for you to live by? and why?
For me it has been not taking it personally. My life had always been about this. My feelings were always hurt, my heart was on my sleeve, there to get bruise at any given moment. I still do this at times, but it is getting better.
Which agreement is easier for you? and why?
Always do your best, although seems to be the easier for me. I don't kick myself when I fall...but realize that I will have moments that my best is better than others.
I hope this help start a communication with those whom this book has made a difference for...and in so doing, helps those just finding how wonderful and helpful this book truly is.
Blessings to all who pass this way...please share what your story...you never know when it will help another.
Blessed Be...

Greetings, All, I'm Krimlim90. I've been reading the Four Agreements for about, 3 or 4 years, maybe longer. It has helped me extremely well, as well as Mom, our lives have gone for the better. How can I tell? Well, I feel better about myself, and feel no racism or sexism in my body. I'm always happy, and if I do become depressed, it's usually thanks to reading 6 hours or so, and it's just not in me to stay sad and mooping around. Also, my brother is going through hard times, mainly emotionally. He has this weird behavior, almost as if he's Bi-polor. One second, he can be bouncing off the walls and happy, the next, he can be hotrodding out of the neighborhood, angry obviously. He takes things personally, I believe, and have tried to recommend the book for him to read. He puts it down for saying about 'God' or something, but I'm keeping my distance about it, it's his life, not mine.
It's a joy to find this community, hopefully I might make friends in here, knowing that other people in this harsh world knows about the Four Agreements. I'll try to post here often.
