Not all surprised by the lack of WiFi 7 in the AVP but very surprised by the lack of 6E. If there is one device that would benefit from lower latency connections, it’s the AVP with its beautiful dual 4K+ displays.

Maybe it’s just me, but I still don’t understand these days that when they bring out new generations of products, they stick to the former gen wallpaper on the box.
It happens with this iPad Pro, and also if you look at iPad Mini 6 to 7, same wallpaper. As if you’re buying a 0,5 gen upgrade. Which actually is the case with just a chip upgrade, of course.

I’m a little surprised Vision Pro doesn’t get N1, but then again it’s a commercial failure so the SoC update is really just to keep it from becoming a brown banana.

I’d assume that WiFi 6e or 7 would require antenna changes which probably wouldn’t be worth it for what looks like a spec bump.

I'm way more excited for all the 'secondary' products, like the ATV and airtags.

Both of those are well overdue. And they are cheap and items that I use daily (well the AirTags aren't checked daily, but they are in places like my car and my keychain to serve a purpose and they are in station daily). So for me both of those are basically instant buys.

Now will the M5 Pro iPad convince me to upgrade from my M1 Pro iPad? That is also a daily used item (both at home and at work). But I'm not sure I'd see enough functional increased value to justify that $1,000 or so price (would also include buying a new keyboard case).

The M3 chip was released via press release, wasn’t it? The article says M1-M4 was via event.

I know this because my M1 fried for no reason so I was forced to buy an M2 immediately, and weeks after my return date the M3 MBP popped up in an unexpected PR…

Yup, I’m on an M2 still with a hardly working M1 repair with no screen.

So yeah, it makes no sense that we’re goin to see an M5 in 2026 via event. Unless there’s something we do not know like massive architectural change which has been rumored but no details exist…

We know it’s still the 3nm node so… yeah. M5 MBP in October 2025 as far as all logic points.

Don't know whether the two cameras on iPad Pro will be useful. The increase in RAM for 256 and 512GB iPad Pro will be good. The M5 MacBook Pros will be a minor update. Not sure when cellular connectivity will come to the Mac.

I find it quite notable that the M5 performance (via geekbench) is double what the M1 is. Actually the only annoyance with my M1 is the mediocre camera (for zoom/facetime/etc) which normally would not warrant an upgrade but must say, double is compelling.

They need to account for the fact that current iPhone 17 Pros outperform iPad Pros with 8 GB of RAM, especially the M2 iPad Pro. It noticeably lags on iPadOS 26.

Interesting, my M2 iPad Air seems fine on iPadOS 26, but I am just streaming and surfing.

if they drop a new vision that still has wifi 6 its just pathetic. Of all the devices that should gave had wifi 7 from the start it should be in this device you can't plugin. If he only update is a cpu bump it obviously serves no purpose other than that they stopped making m2 chips cus who's gonna buy it? it will be years before any software specifically requires said chip bump as they barely have software for the m2 which will have a much higher if still meager user base... hell most quest games even still support the 2

New MBPro...
OLED - ok if it doesn't affect battery life too much. No complaints on the current displays anway
Touch screen - meh
Thinner design - only if it doesn't reduce battery life
M6 chips - meh unless they actually bring something real to the table.
Cellular connectivity - meh. Operators charge so much for the multiSIM (or dedicated connections for that matter) I rather use my phone's data plan. Even cancelled my multiSIM for the apple watch as it just wasn't worth the price.

Bring back max 3e/mo multisim that shares the data and everything else with the main SIM and I may be more interested. Anything more and it just isn't worth the price. And no, this isn't Apple's fault.

I'm all for smaller, thinner, lighter devices as long as the battery life stays the same or improves. If it takes a hit I rather choose battery life over any of those features. Ah, and as we've seen what brain farts Apple occasionally does: I'm also not ok them making a "new" "slimmer" keyboard design if that results in it being as crappy as those butterfly ones they came up with at first. I want to know I'm actually pushing a button. If it feels like smashing a touch screen I don't want anything to do with it.
