Hello!

I'd like to ask you if "a valid GPS fix" in the sentence below means "a position".

To activate the MOB function, a valid GPS fix must be available.

  • It means that the GPS reciever must be located by an acceptable number of satellites. The satellites locating the reciever's position are said to "get a fix" on it.
     
    A slight picky correction.

    The satellites in the Global Positioning System do not "locate" the receiver. The receiver calculates its position by processing the signals it receives from the satellites.

    In plain language, "a valid GPS fix" means that you're standing where the receiver thinks you are.
