        Mutant larvae show cuticle moulting defects of the head skeleton, epidermis, trachea and posterior spiracles. The taenidial folds show defects in their arrangement.

        Mutant stage 15 embryos accumulate chitin in the tracheal lumen, but it is strongly reduced in stage 16 mutant embryos (in wild-type embryos, chitin accumulates from stage 14 onwards and is degraded at stage 17).
