    Description

FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.

bununspecified follicle cell mutant clones show no phenotype prior to stage 10 of oogenesis. Between stages 10B-14 the mutant clones fall into two separate classes: those that are spatially separated from, and those that are contiguous with, the centripetally migrating follicle cells. The spatially separate clones appear phenotypically normal. The contiguous clones contain flattened cells, some abnormally large cells and are associated with a torn epithelium. The cells within these clones have substantial surface area in contact with the oocyte.
