Detailed Description

Transient expression of wgUAS.GFP under the combined control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU and Gal80[ts] induces ectopic bristles in the wing margin.

Transient expression of wgScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU (using UAS-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to late third larval instar/early pupa stage) has no effect on adult wing morphology or lethality.

Expression of wgScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4bbg-C96 has little effect on the wing at 22[o]C, but expression at 25[o]C leads to 100% early pupal lethality without detectable wing development.

Genetic Interactions

Co-expression of both wgScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP and sonaScer\UAS.cKa simultaneously under the control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU (using UAS-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to late third larval instar/early pupa stage) causes high degree of lethality and the surviving adults display wing phenotypes that include multiple ectopic bristles near the anterior wing margin neither of which is observed when wgScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP or sonaScer\UAS.cKa is expressed alone.

Expression of wgScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP does not suppress the wing notching seen when Klp64DNIG.10642R is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4bbg-C96.

Expression of Klp64DNIG.10642R partially rescues the lethality seen when wgScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4bbg-C96 at 25[o]C, resulting in the survival of 30% of adult flies with small wings.

Comments

The cuticle pattern of wgl-17 embryos almost completely rescued by the expression of wgScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP driven by Scer\GAL4wg.PM or Scer\GAL4en-e16E.
