Home sweet home
I decided on a whim to come home this weekend. It's nice to be here. And I finally found my missing pair of jeans. Heh.
Halloween was fun! I met Anna (both of us in full costume, of COURSE), and we went over to Louisburg Square to trick or treat at John Kerry's house. Of course, he didn't dare show his face after his remarks, and so the people in his house just looked out the window at everyone, and didn't answer the door. Loser.
Since our trick or treating was a bust (though we did pick up some candy from the house next door), we walked over to the Loews on the Common to see Marie Antionette. This was at about 7:30, though, and the showing wasn't until 10:10 PM. We nixed that idea and walked over to the Prudential Center instead, which was a nice walk, and went to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner. I had the BLT pizza on the honey wheat crust. Yummy! Then I went over to Ben and Andrew's and me, Andrew, Ben, and this girl Alice from my floor (who's from Illinois - Niles, to be exact. Yay!) watched Nip/Tuck. Ughh some of that stuff is disgusting. Blech blech blech.
Thanksgiving is creeping up on us. Crazy. I can't wait to see the crew - I haven't seen them in forever! I think a nice game of Apples to Apples is in order. I am doing lunch with Michelle on Saturday though; I can't wait to see her.
I have to figure out what courses I'm taking next semester. I'm still toying with the idea of going to Prague; they pushed the deadline up to December 1st, so I have a bit more time. I probably won't end up going, though, because then that would mess up my study abroad for next year. I should go see what classes I have to take for requirements. Hmm.

What Kind of Republican are You?

You're a Conservababe! You don't want to be associated with treehugging liberals who never shower- ewwww!!!! You've got class and morals too. You are probably a Christian. Go you!

Halloween Weekend!
Saturday night was super duper. I went with Blaire and Jessica to a frat party at MIT. I dressed up as a cowgirl; I think I looked rather cute. All of my accessories were pink! Except my favorite accessory, my whip - that was black. I love that whip. Before the party, we went over to a store in Cambridge to get costume stuff. I found a pink skirt, my pink cowgirl hat (with sequins!), a whip, a pink bandana, and a bootlace tie necklace thing. Very very cute. I paired this with a white shirt and my brown boots. Adorable!
The three of us went over to the party (it was over on The Fenway) and met up with some of Blaire's friends. It was really fun - a lot of dancing! There were lots of people there from all different schools, and of course everyone was dressed up. Blaire and Jessica didn't know what they were, but they looked cool anyways. I saw Andrew's roommate there, and it turns out they were both there, I just didn't see Andrew. But they were in a random crowd shot I took. Very funny.
Tonight I went out with Andrew and Anna. I dressed up as a cowgirl again, except I put my hair in braids this time instead of the pigtails I had Saturday night. We got bubble tea, too! I have the cutest pictures up, they're up on Facebook. That was a lot of fun, except it was freezing, so when we got off of the T and had to walk, I nearly died.
We got there and we had to go up to the third floor. We push the button for the elevator, and it opens and it's covered in those fake cobwebs, and all dark, and there's this bloody person-monster thing sitting in a chair in there. Anna and I refused to go in there, so we walk up to the second floor. As we're looking for the stairs up to the third floor, the elevator opens, and the bloody person-monster thing is now standing up - apparently it was real. Two people get out of the elevator looking terrified, and join us in our walk up to the third floor. Andrew, of course, laughed at us, but he wouldn't have wanted two crying girls on his hands; I'm sure of that.
I don't know what I'm doing Tuesday; maybe someone will have a party. Most of the parties were on Saturday, though. Oh well. I do know that I'm singing my song for Vocal Ensemble at the concert Tuesday. I'm singing "So In Love" from Kiss Me Kate. Wish me luck!

Karaoke night!!!
I had more fun tonight than I've had in a long time!!! Andrew is the president of the Honors Council over at Northeastern, and they were sponsoring a "study break", and they hired a karaoke guy to come in. So I went with Anna, and we sang karaoke and it was so much fun! Check out Facebook for my pictures, which I'm uploading now. There weren't that many people there, but it was good because that meant we go to sing more. Yay! I did a bunch of duets with Anna, including:
There was this other guy there who was a total rock star. His last song was "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That" by Meatloaf. He needed a girl to sing the girl part (there's a little bit towards the end), so I did it. He was so into it, he was running around in the audience and singing, and it was great! He even got down on one knee at one point and was singing to me, at the "And I would do anything for love" part. The expression on my face was priceless, haha. But it was so much fun acting like a rock star!
Anna and I went back to Andrew's dorm, and he made us a great dinner of fried chicken, corn, and stuffing. Real food! It's excellent when all you're used to is sandwiches. That's all I really eat, because the regular food that they offer is icky. I had meatloaf the other day, actually, but it looked like plastic. Anyway, it was really really good. Then we decided to go see Man of the Year at the Loews on the Common. I saw it last week, but it was good, so I went again. We walked over to the Symphony T stop, and it was really chilly. Michelle called while we were walking, and it was so good to talk to her. The symphony had just gotten out when we got there (around 10), so the T station was so packed that we couldn't get on the train that came in (which arrived full to bursting to begin with), so we had to wait for the next one. We took the next train a few stops to Boylston, and then got off and walked to the theater really quickly, but we didn't get there until about 10:35 (the movie started at 10:20), and by the time we'd waited in line and bought our tickets and stuff, we'd missed the beginning of the movie. That was okay for me, since I'd seen it before, but I think Anna and Andy got the jist of it just fine.
Anna and I went into the bathroom after the movie ended, and Lea was at the sink washing her hands. She goes, "Katie?!" and I turn around and was like, "What are you doing here?!" (Keep in mind it's about 12:15 AM at this point.) She and Heather had gone to see Marie Antionette. So they waited for me and we walked back together.
When we got back, Blaire informed me that she'd gotten invited to a frat party at MIT tomorrow night, and asked if I wanted to come. I said yes, of course, so that's where I'll be tomorrow. We're going costume shopping after she gets off of work tomorrow. I have my princess costume from home, but I don't think that's quite sexy enough for a frat party, lol. We'll see what we find at the store. Probably not much, considering this is the weekend for Halloween parties. Oh well, I'm excited anyways.
Have a great day guys!
- "You Were Meant For Me" - Jewel
- "Man, I Feel Like A Woman" - Shania Twain

CPK yay!
Pie-baking on Friday night was very very fun; I ended up staying until about 2:30 AM. Then I thought to myself, "Self? It's probs time to go back and get some sleep." So I went back, but didn't end up going to bed until 4, because for some reason I thought that it was absolutely imperative that I upload my pictures from that night right away.
Last night I went out with Lea, we had a lot of fun. We went over to the Common and hung out at the Pumpkin Festival for a while; that was so fun. We didn't get over there until it was getting dark, and all of the jack-o-lanterns were lit. It was really crowded. Since the sun had gone down, it was chilly, especially with the wind, and I hadn't brought a scarf, so my neck was cold. Lea and I decided the weather called for some Starbucks. She got a hot apple cider, but I got a pumpkin spice frappacino (cold, I know, but it's my favorite). Then we walked over to Copley, which is probably about a mile away from the Common. We went to Anthropologie, and were trying on headbands. I found a really cute white one, but it was $32, and I really didn't feel like dishing that out for a headband. Then the two of us headed over to the mall at the Prudential Center and put our names down for the California Pizza Kitchen. It being a Saturday night, it was crowded, and the wait was about an hour. But we went and shopped. We went to Barnes and Noble first, and I used the gift certificate Andy got me for my birthday to buy Apples to Apples. That is one spectacular game!!! I can't wait to play it. We weren't able to play it last night because Heather had gone home, and tonight Blaire has to study. But I think tomorrow night we're going to play, and it's going to be spectacular.
Then after Barnes and Noble we went to Crane's, a stationary store. I saw the cutest stationary there - it's sky blue paper and envelopes, and the lining of the envelopes is striped in sherbert colors - hot pink, mint green, white, orange. But the set of notecards was $35, and even just the paper and envelopes was $25. So, since I do not like shelling out that much money for things like headbands and stationary, I didn't get it. I do have some Crane's stationary that Allison got me for my birthday years ago - I still have some because it's so nice that I save it for special things. I love it.
We also went into Lacoste and looked around. They have the cutest sweater, it's the sherbert colors again - hot pink with blue and orange and mint green stripes. But that was something like $140, so I kept my wallet closed on that one, too. They finally called our name over at CPK, so we sat down (it was so crowded), and got some really yummy pizzas. Lea got the Greek pizza, which she didn't like - she said the sauce was bad, and there's red onions on the pizza and she hates red onions. I got the BLT pizza on a honey-wheat crust, and it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it. Then we were going to walk back, but it was really cold, so we just walked back to Copley and took the T. Of course, the Copley station doesn't have the electronic Charlie Ticket entry things yet, so I had to fork over cash to buy a token, and I couldn't use the card I already had. Boo. You know, you buy the card, and then you go to use it and you can't. Very frustrating.

Want some PIE?!?!?!
I'm over at Dolly's baking some pie right now. We're waiting for the pie to bake (one of the three), so I thought I would update. I'm sitting here looking extremely cute in Dolly's cowboy hat (I LOVE cowboy hats!). Yeehaw!
It's so fun to play domestic goddess. I took the T over to Boylston, met Dolly, and then we took the T to the Prudential Center, and walked a block to Shaws, where we got all of our pie-baking necessities. And some biscuits. Of course, it was (and still is, I think) monsooning out, so we were completely soaked as we lugged everything back in her hobo cart. When we got back we baked the biscuits, and I made my pudding pie (white chocolate pudding in a graham cracker crust - yum!) and stuck that in the freezer. It is now a frozen pudding delight. Then we made a really good ricotta chocolate chip pie, which is currently cooling. If you've never had it, it's so delicious!!!! Right now our pumpkin pie is in the oven - that will be done in about forty minutes. Then I believe some of her friends are coming over, so we can have a pie fest. Haha.
Check facebook for pictures later tonight; I'll put them up when I get back to my dorm.
As of today, I'm acting interim secretary of the College Republicans; Ryan called today and told me. So that's until the elections, which apparently are being held next Thursday. Ryan assured me that if I wanted the job then, it was as good as mine. I'm really excited, this is something I've wanted for a while. The Executive Board is going for brunch on Sunday, so we'll discuss it more then. Lea told me that she knew about it since a week ago, though, and that Ryan was supposed to call me last week. So all of my suitemates have been keeping it a secret from me. Haha.
Other than that, I'm a complete moron. I don't know what's come over me lately. It's quite weird.

Oh boo
What have I done since Wednesday...
I went out with Ben on Wednesday night again. We saw Man of the Year. It was a pretty good movie. Nothing terribly great (the premise of the movie was rather...odd and unlikely), but it made me laugh. So if you enjoy political jokes, then I'd say go see it. It'll make you laugh. Anyways, I had work until 7, and the movie showings were 7:30 and 10:15, and there was no way I could get over to the 7:30 one in time (I had to get back to my dorm, change, get ready, and then get over to the theater by 7:15. Wasn't gonna happen), so we went to the 10:15. I used the time in between to study and stuff, so we just met at the theater a little before 10. I didn't get back until about 12:30, and I had an 8:30 class (and an exam, though it was open notes, in my 10 o'clock class), but I had a lot of fun. I love political jokes, and this movie was chock full of them.
I had psych, and then my science test yesterday; that went well, I think. Then I met Jess and we went over to Chinatown for our History of Boston class. This Chinese lady gave us a tour (our class had to split up, so we didn't even have Ballison with us!), and led us as far away from where we started as possible in an hour, and of course, it was in a direction opposite of our school. So 12:45 rolls around, and we're all the way over by South Station. I had work over at school at 1. And of course, to make matters just a bit more difficult for myself, I had a client at 1, and last week for that same person I was a few minutes late, too. So Jess and I booked it over to South Station, waited for the T, and took the red line back. I went as fast as I could from Park Street back to school and arrived all sweaty, only to have my tutoree not show up. So I read Gone With the Wind for those two hours (two hours NOT wasted, haha).
I just talked to Kelly on the phone and she's not able to come up this weekend. Boo. Why must schools give work?
That Andy is a smart cookie.

Happy Hump Day
Happy Hump Day. It being Wednesday and all.
Yet again I'm up doing a stupid paper that I should have done before. But then, what else is new. It's a nasty habit, procrastination.
I had such a busy day today. I woke up feeling like a sixteen-wheeled tractor trailer had run me over numerous times; not a very nice feeling, especially at 7:45 AM. I dragged myself to classes, which were nothing special, and then to lab, where our calculations had a 30% error. Ouch. Then on to voice lessons, where I practiced "So In Love" from Kiss Me Kate; I'll be singing it at the brown bag concert on the afternoon of Halloween. Then rehearsal, which was lots of fun, as always, even though I felt like keeling over.
Tomorrow (well, today, technically) should be fun. I have class from 1 until 3:45, then work from 4-7. I'm going out with Ben a little later. He suggested going to go see Man of the Year, which I've been wanting to see ever since I saw previews, so we're going to do that. I read a review, and it said it wasn't really that terrific, but I guess we'll see! It looks like a movie I'd like. I'll let you know, haha. Anyways, I'm not going out with him until 10, so I'll have some time to get ready for my science test, which is on Thursday. Thank goodness it's open notes.
I've been feeling so crummy ever since Sunday. I just need some sort of...jump start or something. =/
