Art Fight attack #17 for @runicpixels and @flashkirby !!

Had lots of fun with this one as well, making a more complicated artwork in Aseprite.

In this little alternate universe everyone's a bunch younger, and Paige ( @flashkirby ) and Maple ( @runicpixels ) are friends from school. Zinlora (me) , Maple's older sister, is babysitting them, and they went to the park to play.

meteor-showerz asked:

How do you go about drawing your backgrounds? Do you have a 3D model for common scenes, or references so you know what goes where?

vertigris-art answered:

It depends on the complexity. Simple, one-off stuff I either freehand or make using a perspective ruler (the ruler mostly to lay down the foundation).

Scenes that I plan to reuse or ones with very intricate details or composition, I’ll do using a 3D model that I build in Blender.
When I do that, I try to not build everything in 3D or make everything perfect, so that there’s enough freedom for me to draw. I also avoid using 3D rendered lighting cause it quickly begins looking artificial.

I always use references. A shit ton of them.

Here are some example timelapses (don’t ask me why every video is embedded differently lol)

1. Free handing (with perspective ruler base)

2. Free handing (using 3D model for some parts)

3. Tracing lines of 3D base, then painting the rest

Hope this helps!

sawed-on-shotgun

i am of the sincere belief that if ur on ur computer a lot you should visually customize it to high hell and back not just for funsies but also because it has literally made me less depressed before. its kind of like how rearranging your bedroom is good for your brain, yknow. i do stuff like this every few months

sawed-on-shotgun

and if anyone wants to follow suit

LIVE WALLPAPER: wallpaper engine. only thing on here that costs any money (its like 5 bucks on steam). im sure theres free alternatives but this one has a lot of presets and stuff so its less hassle and its what i use. might be a bad idea for lower end pcs tho

CUSTOM TASKBAR: retrobar on github (lots of different options)

CUSTOM CURSOR: theres a lot of places to find these, but rw-designer open cursor library is a good place to start

DISCORD: betterdiscord, im using the clearvision v7 theme with a custom background

EXTENSIONS (these are for firefox, might or might not exist on other browsers):

If anyone hasn't seen it already, I've made a game for the GMTK gamejam this year alongside @w1k !

We made a RTS-adjacent swarm game where you amass units to overwhelm enemies with pure numbers! Please try it out! We would appreciate any feedback!

All of the characters (except one enemy) are my OCs, so if you like some of my angel OCs maybe you'll enjoy making morbillions of them

forget everything anyone has ever told you on the matter the truest marker of adulthood is starting to hear the siren call of high quality kitchenware

tainbocuailnge

to be clear you SHOULD buy that cast iron pan and you SHOULD buy that knife set and you SHOULD buy that fancy rice cooker and you SHOULD buy that novelty mug. high quality kitchenware is always worth it you’re literally gonna be using that almost every day

This seems like a good post to include this link on:

Talking about popular kitchenware companies undergoing enshittification, and gives you a list of brands towards the end that are more reliable.
