*sigh* I read a post, and more importantly, the replies to the post, and a new adaptation is coming up so you’ll see even more posts in the near future so like…
If what you want is a young protagonist learning about magic and getting caught up in trials and tribulations way bigger than themselves:
- Tiffany Aching sub-series of Discworld
- Witch Hat Atelier
(Right, okay, these might be hard sells because you gotta accept a *gasp* little girl as a protagonist, but I can promise both Tiffany and Coco are way more interesting people than that boy.)
- People often recommend Percy Jackson but I haven’t read that one so I can’t vouche for it
- Same for Earthsea. Heard good things but haven’t read it.
If you want a magic school but you’re more interested in the staff:
- Wizards sub-series of Discworld
- X-men, basic'ly any iteration
If you’re an adult now and want adults in the cast but also like the idea of a central Trouble Trio going on fantastical adventures and you aren’t especially sensitive to plotholes and uresolved plot threads:
- Graverobber’s Chronicles/DMBJ
Magic school but you’re an adult now and you want some smut and you aren’t picky about writing quality:
- I dunno man, Fourth Wing or summ. I haven’t read that one but according to the reviews that’s the niche it occupies.
