Fandom: Slings and Arrows
What it's about: An overview of season one. As someone not overly partial to Hamlet (I love Shakespeare but not whining emo babies who get so caught up in playing mind games with arch nemeses they drive their mentally unstable girlfriends to suicide), I never sought out this series. This is the video that changed my mind and convinced me a show that is basically a love letter to Shakespeare and the artistic process would be worth my time (it was, by the way).
Why it's worth watching: Storytelling, characterization, heartbreaker (it can still be sad, even when you're laughing), ending, once is not enough
Favourite bit: I almost want to say the ending (swans! So perfect!) but I'm going with getting to see the principals perform, as that was what made me check out the show. The elation and the energy that is generated in this one sequence is intense, compact, and riveting. It's like you're sharing in their high.

Why it's worth watching: Concept, once is not enough (heh), ending
Favourite bit: The whole video is hilarious, but the fireworks juxtaposed with Clark's confused expression kills me.

Fandom: Doctor Who
What it's about: I thought the Weeping Angels lost most of their terror-inducing bite when they were brought back the second time. This video gives them their teeth back and then some.
Why it's worth watching: Characterization, editing, ending, song choice, timing, YOU WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN
Favourite bit: The ending makes my hair stand up.

What it's about: Alex works with a bunch of chauvinistic pigs. Lucky her. No seriously, lucky her, because it turns out that they're not that bad at all when it's time to fight crime together.
Why it's worth watching: Characterization, cute!, song choice, ending, once is not enough, badass
Favourite bit: I love the ending because the look on Alex's face is exactly what I looked like every time I watched a new episode of Ashes to Ashes.

What it's about: The Doctor loves his companions, but he also envies them and how they're able to live their lives. The Doctor needs to spend more time hanging out with Captain Jack, I think. They could start a club!
Why it's worth watching: Characterization, concept, heartbreaker, cute, once is not enough
Favourite bit: What's sadder than the Doctor knowing he'll never have a chance to live like his friends? John Smith finding out that he can't do it, either.

What it's about: Some of the things that come out of the Dollhouse might be creepy, and some of the people who go there might be creepy, but they've got nothing on the people who are actually running the place.
