Biography

Prior to the events of Heroes, the World of Conquest was taken over by Princess Veronica of Embla, with Xander and the other Heroes of Nohr being put under a contract requiring them to serve the Emblian Empire. As one of the strongest Heroes from his world, Xander was stationed alongside Veronica when she attacked the kingdom of Askr. When the Order of Heroes returned to repel the invaders, Xander was ordered to kill the legendary summoner, but he proved unsuccesful and was forced to retreat. The Order of Heroes later arrived in the World of Conquest, where Xander opposed them as demanded by the contract—however, despite being defeated and having the contract broken, he chose to stay by Veronica's side, offering companionship to the lonely princess and recognizing her potential as a rightful ruler.

Xander continued to remain by Veronica's side during her attempts to oppose the Order of Heroes, and the two eventually allied themselves with King Surtr of Múspell due to Loki's influence on the young princess. He remained loyal to her amidst rising tensions between the two factions and, upon Veronica being threatened by force to return to Múspell, valiantly attempted to defend her from Surtr; however, due to the king being blessed with invincibility, he was eventually defeated. He recovered from his wounds and, at Veronica's request, joined Veronica's brother Bruno on his travels to find a cure to the blood curse affecting the Emblian royals. While he largely did not contribute to the main conflict against the Divine Dragon Embla, he ultimately played a critical part in the plan to defeat her by informing Veronica of the means of sealing her strength, after Bruno entrusted him with the details. Even after Embla had officially allied itself with Askr, Xander continued to serve Veronica; when the emperor of Embla was almost assassinated through possession of the count serving as her guard, Veronica sent Xander to protect her instead.

Xander: Paragon Knight, based on Xander's appearance in Fire Emblem Fates, was first made available from May 2, 2017 – May 8, 2017 as part of the eponymous Grand Hero Battle, Xander: Paragon Knight. He is able to be summoned using Heroic Grails since the 2.11.0 Update on November 7, 2018. His personal weapon is Siegfried, which was able to be refined as part of the 5.5.0 Update on May 6, 2021.

Xander also appears during story sequences in the Forging Bonds event Unworked Pride, as well as being mentioned in Book II, Chapter 13, Book IV, Chapter 6, and Book VIII, Chapter 5. Additionally, a nightmare version of Xander appears and is fought in Book IV, Chapter 6: Part 5.

Xander appeared as a boss in two Tap Battle events. During the first, Illusory Dungeon: Formidable Foes, which ran from April 26, 2018 – May 11, 2018 and reran from June 26, 2019 – July 17, 2019, he appeared as the boss of Floors 56-60. During the second, Illusory Dungeon: Kingdom of Nohr, which ran from January 15, 2019 – February 7, 2019, he appeared as the boss of Floors 96-100 alongside Laslow: Dancing Duelist. He was also a featured Hero during the fifteenth Grand Conquests, which ran from May 17, 2019 – May 23, 2019, where he led the red army against Ryoma: Peerless Samurai and Corrin: Fateful Princess.

Xander served as the enemy commander during Mjölnir's Strike during event 7 (January 26, 2020 – January 28, 2020), event 55 (February 11, 2021 – February 13, 2021), and event 128 (June 7, 2023 – June 10, 2023). He was also a featured Hero in two Voting Gauntlets. The first, Father-Complex Fray, began on July 1, 2020, during which he lost in Round 1 to Alfonse: Prince of Askr. The second, Chivalric Struggle, began on May 4, 2022, during which he lost in Round 1 to Jagen: Veteran Knight.

As part of the GHB Elite quests, a 4★ version of Xander: Paragon Knight could be received as a quest reward from February 9, 2018 – February 9, 2019. Additionally, from the 3.9.0 Update on September 5, 2019 onward, a 4★ version can be obtained by completing a Rank 7 quest on the Heroes' Path, and a 5★ version can be obtained by completing a Rank 9 quest.

Xander is fought during Paralogue 4, in Part 2 and Part 3. He was also a featured Hero in two Voting Gauntlets. The first, Bunny Battle Ballot, began on April 4, 2018, during which he lost Round 1 to Alfonse: Spring Prince. Xander is fought during Paralogue 23, in Part 2 and Part 3. He additionally appears during story sequences in the Tempest Trials+ event Chaos Named. Additionally, he was one of the featured Heroes in the eleventh Hall of Forms, which ran from October 14, 2020 – October 29, 2020, alongside Camilla: Flower of Fantasy, Corrin: Dream Princess, and Corrin: Dream Prince.

From March 5, 2020 onward, a 5★ Combat Manual version of Xander: Dancing Knight can be compiled using 1,600 Divine Code: Part 1.

Xander: Gallant King, based on Xander's appearance as the King of Nohr after the events of Fates, is a Legendary Hero who was first made available from June 30, 2022 – July 14, 2022 as part of the Legendary Heroes - Xander summoning event. His personal weapon is Ebon Bölverk, which was able to be refined after the 9.2.0 Update on February 6, 2025, and his personal skill is Chivalry. During the 9.2.0 Update, he also received the skills Atk/Spd Excel and Chivalry II.

As a Legendary Hero, Xander is fought during a Legendary Hero Battle, the eponymous Xander: Gallant King, where the reward for beating him on Abyssal is the Gold Kitty Ribbon. He features in the Tactics Drills once, used during Skill Studies 158.

Xander: Paragon Knight
King Garon of Nohr has a number of talented children, and among them is his first son and heir, Prince Xander. Xander is a man of fairness and integrity who believes in chivalry. It goes without saying that his siblings trust him like they trust no other! And it's not just Xander's personality that makes him a cut above. He's an expert swordsman who's been entrusted with the divine blade Siegfried, one of Nohr's sacred treasures! There's no doubt that the future of Nohr rests on Xander's shoulders.
