Fire Emblem Gaiden

Astra (Japanese: 流星 Shooting Star) is a weapon first appearing in Fire Emblem Gaiden. In Gaiden, it is a lance which is an extremely rare random drop from gargoyles. It has an extremely high critical stat of fifty. In Fire Emblem Awakening, it is a bow with the effect of granting its wielder the Astra skill. In Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, it is similar to its Gaiden appearance, but is instead a sword. Using it enough times unlocks a combat art known as Astral Blade, which costs ten HP to use but increases hit rate by fifteen and allows the user to strike five times at half power. It is obtained by evolving certain Rusted Swords.

In Fire Emblem Heroes, the localization instead calls this weapon Astra Blade, and in this game it is a personal weapon of the Zofia's Call variation of Catria. In addition to boosting its wielder's Attack at all times, it also boosts its damage output based on how much higher the user's Attack is than the target's Defense, with no change in damage output should the target's Defense be the higher value.

Trivia

  • In Gaiden, Astra has the highest critical rate of any attainable lance in the Fire Emblem series; however, Astra ties for second-highest critical rate with an unused version of the Gáe Bolg in Thracia 776, both behind an unused version of the Gungnir in Thracia 776.
