Key messages

I will be a strong voice for:

  • the cost of living, including access to affordable housing

  • access to health services and improved education outcomes

  • better planning for people and communities with densification done well

  • budget prioritisation, including value for money and reducing government debt

  • thriving local shops with small business and jobs

  • great public spaces and an equitable distribution of community facilities (eg cultural and recreational) to increase activity and bring us together for our physical and mental health

  • improving city maintenance - paths, lights, tree canopy

  • improved environmental outcomes and the transition to net zero emissions

  • greater transparency and integrity

A better vision for the social and economic development of the Southside

After 23 years of Labor or Labor/Greens governments, it will be important to review each line of the budget to determine where we can reprioritise funds for better outcomes:

  • housing - increase our stock of social and affordable homes

  • front line services - retain and attract health professionals, teachers, police, and staff for the community sector

  • planning and local issues - social infrastructure, upgraded shops and city maintenance (paths, lights, tree canopy … )

  • transparency, accountability and genuine community engagement

  • ACT Budget - reduce waste, slow the growth in debt and improve value for money.

I believe in town planning where collaboration provides great outcomes for:

  • shops - balance our needs for homes, commercial areas and jobs, services, public spaces and community facilities

  • residential areas - densification that provides great design to minimise overshadowing and overlooking and provides for at least 30% tree canopy and permeable space on each block

I support a range of issues such as LGBTQIA rights, gay marriage, voluntary assisted dying, pill testing, access to safe abortion, poker machine reform, respectful relationships and early intervention to address domestic violence.

Canberra/Murrumbidgee is our home and we should have governance arrangements and a policy development framework that encourages us to work together to improve the social and economic development of our community.
