Hello! I'm one of those people that switched from FFXI to WoW a couple of years ago; I still love WoW, but I'm on a bit of a break from it for the time being and have been considering picking up FFXI again. :) When I did play I played as a human thief, and didn't enjoy the class much. I've been considering picking up a white mage or a warrior, but I'm concerned about finding groups and/or ability to solo. What class can you solo the longest on yet still be able to find groups on?
Also, can anyone reccomend a server or linkshell? Half of what makes a game fun is the people you game with, I think. :) Any and all tips appreciated!
so whose on the cerebus sever on ffix, i know i am, im located in windrust, and i need help doing missions and quest, well basically a playing buddy haha i know im lame but it get boring/trying playing by yourself online, well heres my info the names Rhatt, located in windrust im a lvl 12 monk, 7 rdm, and my fave a lvl 16 blm, ive been playing for aboutr 3 weekes and im ranked 2 and i need help with my 4th mission and like 2 quest well hit me up im usually on from 2pm till 11pm usually you can find me betweend 2pm and 4pm:) help a elvaan out wil ya?
I havent even gotten to play yet. I totally neglected to see that the CD was for a DVD-Rom so I had to go to the site and DOWNLOAD the whole thing. Biggest download ive ever done. 1.99GIG! Took a whole day with a cable modem. So this morning i wake up and i see everything is done and im all giddy like "YAY! I get to play!" But no. After realising the 1.99 gig took me just under the gig's i needed to install, i took a while clearing out needed space. THEN i get going and set up my PlayOnline Account, get that done, load up FFXI and get an account ID going there. Now I see that I have a massive update to download. Its been going more than an hour and is less than 20% done. This had better be worth it or Square Enix is getting a very nasty letter from a very agitated fan.
Im going to the grocery store to get meal ingredients. Im going to cook, then eat. And hopefully, when its all done, ill get to play this bloody game.

Oh, and PS: One of my main motivations to playing, besides my love for FF in general, is my want to find people online to play with on a fairly regular basis who arent total pricks who leave me behind at any given oppurtunity like they did on WoW. If you fit this criteria, or would like to suggest a server or something for me, let me know. Oh, and I live in Texas. Tanks (and guns)
Hi everyone! Now I have a bit of another problem. I vaguely remember this happening to me before, but I fixed it, so I'm hoping there's a way to fix it again. I can log into the game, but when I get the character select screen, it goes black. It plays the sound and everything, but is completely black. Someone told me to go into the configuration and switch it to simplified character select screen, and that worked out just fine...until I got to the actual gameplay. The screen is still entirely black when I try to play my character. ;_; I am determined to play this game. By the way, my graphics drive is a NVIDIA Geforce4 MX 420. I have 768 MB of RAM, and it could run everything else BUT this game. Any help would be extremely appreciated! Thank you!
Hello everyone, I have a couple questions. I bought FFXI last November, and only played for about a month or two before I stopped playing. I was a little unimpressed with the linkshell, the world pass, the fact that I had to pay for more than 1 character...all of that rather annoyed me. And I was also a little overwhelmed with the world, I had trouble just leaving the rims of my capital city. Well, after playing WoW for several months, and Guild Wars, and SWG, I decided that I wanted to give FFXI another shot.
But when I tried to reinstall the game, it would not let me log in, or even get the viewer. Also, I don't have the original box anymore. Do I need to go out and buy the game all over again, or is that some sort of special trick to getting my game to work again? :-\ I mean, I spent $50 for it, I'd like to play it...thanks.
