Time and Tides - A Final Fantasy RP

. . . back home, the skies were never this blue . . .

You wake up to find yourself met with the sight of sprawling fields and open skies. The air is crisp, clean. It could just be a trick of the wind, but you think you can hear the distant din of the ocean, the rise and fall of crashing waves. For a moment, you're not sure where you are or even who you are, but somehow you know that you're very far from home.

Slowly, it begins to come back to you.
Your life, the people you knew, all the things you did and did not do.

The last thing you can remember is the sky filling with a blinding light.
Then, nothing. Then now. Here, waking up.

What in the world is going on . . . ?

V E R F O L G T : a survival horror pan-fandom roleplay game.

verfolgt
the dream world from Hell
Welcome to the dream world of VERFOLGT, an alternate universe pan-fandom roleplaying game that is heavily based on survival horror. With its setting adapted from Silent Hill, the message it bears will slowly reveal itself as characters begin adjusting to their accursed lives. Eventually, the distinction between fantasy and reality will begin to narrow as characters soon find themselves trapped deep within their own nightmares. Be careful not to divulge in the fantasy, and have a safe and pleasant journey.

In the character's real world, it all happens with a visit to the carnival. They decide to attend, but at the stroke of midnight their cheap thrills and rides turns into something more sinister. Everyone but the character vanishes, and they're left in their lonesome to struggle through this dark and desolate location. They might have to battle with monsters or be completely filled with fright that they'd passed out before even having the chance to explore. After the character's sanity meter has been depleted, they'll wake up in their own beds, having thought it'd been a nightmare of sorts. But a book appears in their possession, and once opened they are cursed to live their lives fulfilling the wishes of the book -- despite its claims of granting them their own wishes, be it for good or evil. The book is essential to getting out alive, and ridding oneself of it is not a wise choice if you value your life.

Every week or so, a chapter is unlocked from the book for the character to read. In most cases, it pertains to the upcoming adventure that characters will face in their next visit. And in their slumber, they have the opportunity to visit the dream world of Verfolgt, which takes place in the character's sleep. Whether Verfolgt is another reality or a part of the character's subconscious is up for debate. But for now, the major problem is whether a character's intentions are either for good or evil. A character may want to take on the book's challenge in order to fulfill their own desires, or some might just want to break free of the curse entirely and go about living their regular lives. It's all up to you.

The world of Verfolgt is technically a small desolate town. It looks completely abandoned, except for the characters who share the same curse. Of course, there are often dimensional rifts that toss characters into situations in order to get a better feel of the story -- in example, visiting the Cambodian ruins to see the denouncing of the ancient fertility God and all that good stuff. Though, the town of Verfolgt will always be the "home base." So to speak.

Phantasmal - A Squaresoft/Square-Enix Role Play

A World of Dreams

Welcome to Utopia City, the city of dreams. Located on thirty miles of land, it combines the quaint charm of Victorian-age architecture with some of the more modern amenities that we have grown unable to live without. Completely surrounded on all sides by impassable desert land, it is hard to say just what secrets can be found within the sands, or what sort of flora (if any) and fauna call it home.

This brings us to our next point of attention. Not all people and creatures inside and outside of Utopia City are nice, and there are some truly evil beings lurking in the shadows. While the city is a hustling and bustling metropolis during the day, it shuts down abruptly at night, shortly after night fall. The reason for this is quite simple; there is a darkness in this city, known to have attacked and killed many of those that have been found wandering alone at night. Known as the Reaper, it is hard to say whether or not it is something of myth or reality, but those souls who have gone off in search of this killer have been known to return in fear of what they’ve seen—if they even truly remember… that is, if they even return at all.

Still, despite this tyrant running rampant at night, the city is watched over and well taken care of by an odd sort of citizen. Known as Slimes, they seem to have been around for quite some time, and if you strike up a conversation, you’ll find out a whole magnitude of information on how they built the city from the ground up. Their mayor, a jovial jelly by the name of King Slime, is an active member of society, wishing nothing more than to keep the general populous happy, all the while keeping them safe from the various threats that may befall them, as well as any troublemakers that, well, cause trouble in his beloved town. Befuddled by the recent appearance of creatures other than the rather cute blobs of slime, he has accommodated for them as best as he can. Providing the new residents—who seem to strangely enough have no sort of recollection of who they are (other than a simple name) or where they are from—with a place to live and a way to communicate with each other, he does his best to make this city once only occupied by the cute yet viscous creatures a home for them.

Visited in dreams by strange visions of what could possibly be their past lives, it would seem however that the longer that people stay in Utopia City, the more that they are inclined to stop trying to return from which they came; it would seem that there is no immediate escape from there, and all those who have tried have found nothing but sand, only to be returned by the slimes. Which brings us to the true question: is Utopia City truly the peaceful paradise it boasts that it is, or is it something a little more sinister?
