Good Things!

* My iTunes download is in progress right now.
* I'm doing karaoke tonight with my favorite Japanese boy! Karaoke in and of itself would be fantastic; Japanese boys make it better.
* The boy I have a ridiculous crush on said that the only way he would ever hit a woman was if she were old. I know, that's horrible. That's what made it so hilarious.
* I got a postcard from my adorable non-English speaking teacher in Japan. It looks handmade, too. It is lovely, at any rate.
* I also got an email from my beloved Constance in China!
* Both the papers that were supposed to be due next week got pushed back a whole weekend.
* I think Quizno's is in the cards for dinner tonight.
* There's a ton more money in my bank account than I thought there was, and my mom sent me $40 just because.
* I tried a radical new thing called "actually putting effort into my hair and not having it look like shit" today, and it paid off, and everyone thinks I got it cut.

Edit: Duh. I forgot two of the best parts.

* It was flip-flop wearing weather today.
* It is virtually snow-free outside again. Maybe it will stay this way.

What is on my walls

The walls of my dorm room, that is. I don't even remember what's on my walls at home. I haven't spent much time there in the past six months.

So. The things of wonder on my walls.

* Postcard that my friend sent me from Belize. Belize looks pretty. I want to go there, too.

* Three birthday cards: one is Hello Kitty in angel/fairy form, one is a handmade one from notebook paper with pictures of random foods cut out from magazines (tomatoes and a turkey), and one with a bunch of little cartoons with Japanese under them. No one knows what it means.

* Fan from Kyoto Gakuen University

* Certificate of completion of study at KGU.

* Invitation to a baby shower, and two registry information cards. I should take those down. The shower was last week.

* Pamphlet for the Beijing/Kyoto conference that I want to go to.

* Strip of photobooth stickers from Japan.

* Sign my friend Russell made me that says "I <3 Alyssa-San"

* 4 pictures from China: one from the Great Wall (the view of the Wall when you're on it); one of some of my friends and me after we'd gotten caught in a massive, disgusting, almost monsoon-ish rainstorm; one of a random market street; and one of Beijing at night.

I usually also have up this picture I found at a bus stop in Japan of some guy in a martial arts uniform doing...some kind of martial arts on a dock. It keeps curling up, though, and I love it and want to keep it in pristine condition, so it's down until I know what to do with it. Best found object ever.

* Glittered
* LJ'd
* Looked at Japan pictures
* Debated changing my paper topic
* Checked away messages on AIM about 66 times
* Checked my email about 43289 times
* Considered what music would be most conducive to paper-writing

The things that are in my wallet

Madelyn, this is partly for you so you have something to do. It's also because I have a "release" party to go to in 15 minutes and I don't want to get there right on time and look like a loser.

I have...

* No cash. Just some change. I need to fix that.
* A Wild Bean Cafe card
* A weekend pass train ticket from last weekend
* Chicago-Aurora train schedule
* Noodles & Company card, which is all filled up, but I'm waiting until I'm super-duper broke to use it. That should be soon.
* A newspaper clipping of restaurants in Chicago with South American food, because I've never had it and want to try some before I graduate.
* Chicago-Harvard train schedule
* Subway card
* Java & Juice card
* Two Ogden 6 movie theatre cards...I had to get a second one because I lost the first one, then promptly found that one.
* A Target gift card with $7.38 on it
* A Wal-mart gift card with $4.46 on it (I always put Post-Its with my amount remaining on the cards)
* A list of stuff I needed to email my dad about (circa late November), written on a bus ticket stub from Japan
* Minnesota ID
* Check card
* Card with my campus phone code on it
* Target credit card
* Phone card
* Gold Points card from TGI Friday's
* Insurance card
* 2004 calendar that I got in Cambodia...it has important dates like "Pchum Ben Day" marked on it (that was the 12-14 of October, FYI)
* Social Security card
* Expired Naperville Public Library card
* Econo Foods card
* School ID

Moral of the story...I need to clean out my wallet.

I am bored, so this is what's in my bag.

This, first of all, is my bag. At the moment, it serves a double function as both my schoolbag and my purse, unless I'm going out and want something smaller and/or less controversial.

It contains:

* a copy of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, with an ad for Brickhouse Pizza as a bookmark
* a carbon copy form of my room condition report, which I just turned in today even though I finished it three days ago
* a five-subject notebook
* a photocopied handout: "The Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State" by Friedrich Engels
* the adorable but tiny Twinkle Puppy planner I bought in Japan
* an empty tube of Nature's Acres Orange & Calendula lip balm
* two pens, one black and one blue, because I hate pencils
* my wallet, which is fuzzy and leopard-print, and also contains a lot of things that I will perhaps list when I am bored again
