The sun hit her shut eyes, and as she came out of the blurry sleep, her body felt strange.
Eveything beneath her was flat. There wasn't a hand on the small of her back, an arm beneath her, a knee right above her own or a nose pressed into her neck.
She sat up in the bed, almost feeling disoriented, and she looked around the room, before quickly wrapping herself in the sheets, noticing the pulled away curtains.
Dark hair was matted to her forehead and the warmth from outside carressed her shoulder, down her spine.
If she closed her eyes, she could even fainlty hear the way he'd said her name. She opened them and was once again faced with the mess of the room, and the note on the dresser.
Lauren
Went to hang out with the guys - and to practice a little too.
This REALLY shouldn't have bothered her at all.
It was just that he'd started practicing and "hanging out" with the guys increasingly.
It was nearing a regular 4 to 5 times a week.

After slipping in some of Mark's stash into her coca-cola, she stared holes into holes into holes into herself in the mirror.
Usually the heat in the water lasted a full 3 minutes, so she didn't bother with it.
The shower took the feeling of everything, it was so cold. From the sweat to the taste of blood just beneath the skin on her chapped lips.
Even the flavor of the rum and coke.
So she had herself another glass.
------------------------------------------
Alex was just sitting in a chair, staring at his cellphone, flipping through the texts, missed calls.
2 missed from Lauren. He had watched the phone shake and flash for those few second before shoving it somewhere where he wouldn't notice. He didn't think he would pick up if she called again either. He wasn't quite ready to face what was happening, what he was doing.
Johnson was absentmindedly tapping on his drums, knocking at the bass, hitting the snare. Ian layed, stretched across the couch and played a song softly and Marshall sighed from his seat near the keyboard. Cash wasn't even trying to act like they were doing anything, texting away from his sidekick, probably with his girlfriend.
Marshall piped up.
"Alex we're not doing anything, we've already practised hundreds of times, and I don't think Cash can even keep up his humor at this"
Cash scowled, glancing from his sidekick, before going back to staring at the screen.
Johnson agreed. "Yeah man, why are we even here?"
Ian stopped his wild plucking, looking at Alex expectantly as well.
Alex opened his mouth then shut it, before opening it again, looking like a fish. He bit his lip and as he was about to resume his "fish out of water" act, his phone rang, flashing and vibrating. WIthout even glancing at the screen, Alex said "I gotta take this"
He was swift, and left to the back room, and answered the phone, glad for the excuse to not answer his band's questions.
"Hello?" It wasn't Lauren. A guy actually, with a warm tone, but his voice gave Alex the feeling that he was worried.
"Yes?"
"Is this Alex Deleon? - Oh god, I really don't want to do this" A deeper, slightly gruffer voice in the background said "I swear to God, Dan, if you don't-"
"Uhm, this is, this is Dan, I know Lauren and I need to tell you something"
----------------------------------------
---------
Alex shut the door behind himself, and the keys landed on the counter with a jingle.
"Yeah mom, I will." Her voice was slow, soft. Tired. "Sure, it's okay. Goober's? Okay, strawberry then"
The click of the phone, and the sky was turning the lightest shade of grey through the window.
She noticed him coming through the tiny kitchen and she placed a soft smile on her face.
He made his way towards her spot on the couch, where her camera, books, notes and laptop spread out on the floor next to her.
"Hey" She looked up at him He turned at an angle to sit next to her. She never gave it much thought when they shared their small "hello" kisses. Pecks, chicken kisses, whatever.
But his lips barely brushed on hers, and he sat ram-rod straight on the couch, the polar opposite of her relaxed cat-curl.
"What's wrong?" She watched his profile. Did he have a fight with someone in the band?
A murmur rumbled from deep in his stomach and they spat out through his lips "I think we should really talk"
She tried not to be taken aback, and that sad, dark, satirical part of her laughed, thinking of all those pop culture references that said these were the fatal words to a relationship.
"Does this-"
He cut her off, "Nevermind, ugh, I'm, I'm just gonna go out." He shrugged the coat back on and opened the door.
"What?" Her tone was completely fogged. Just what was he doing? First he chased her like she was Anne fucking Boleyn and now she's not even being acknowledged.
He didn't turn, and he walked down the steps, only a flight away from the building door. She was three steps behind.
He reached the sidewalk, but Lauren was quick to put her hand on his shoulder. The wind pulled and threw her hair into small ruffles.
"Tell me what's going on, right now." Lauren's voice demanding, but her eyes showed she was not ready.
Her brow furrowed, and she could sense him slipping straight through
Alex seemed confronted with her demand, and he ran his hand into the roots of his hair. The hand dragged away and Alex's eyes shifted from her, to the sidewalk, to right past her ear, and back to her again.
"I can't keep seeing you. I just...I can't be with you"
He was out of her hands now.
Alex huffed, some sort of a sigh, and she could feel the prickles right behind the corners of her eyes.
She wouldn't cry just because of him.
Her face was getting oven hot now, and she tried to keep herself from going any further.
"This..us, we couldn't possibly.." he continued.
Her head shot up, and he started to walk off.
"Look at me! Don't say that," Her hands enveloped his.
He quickly snatched them away and in frustration she brought her hands to his face.
"Don't ever say that..please Alex, I need you. I can't think if you're not here..I..." Her voice cracked and she pressed her forehead to his, as the cold air gave her goosebumps.
ALex's eyes studied her face closely, and he should have known just how much damage this was going to cause.
Lauren took in a breath, her eyes shaded by the hair above her brows.
"Just..why?"
He bit his lip, and inside, in a place even Lauren couldn't reach, he searched for the best answer.
"I.. I need to follow my dreams."
Oh So was that what this was about?
"This is something I've wanted more than anything and not any girl, not even you are worth stopping me for."
The electric current cracked right through her.
Alex gave her a deep look into her eyes, his blue ones hiding the crumbling soul beneath.
With one small tender kiss to her lips, savoring her taste on him again, he whispered the killing words.
"Goodbye, Lauren"
He turned and got lost within the bubbling crowds.
The precious crystals finally dripped off the curve of her cheek, dropping at the angle of her chin, and pooling into a dozen little diamonds on the sidewalk.
------------
She was packed and gone in an hour.
---------------
When he got back to the apartment, there was only the trace of her scent.
