Canon

La'an Noonien-Singh is a 23rd-century Starfleet officer and Chief of Security on the USS Enterprise in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

La'an is descendant of the genetically-engineered tyrant Khan Noonien-Singh, and she carries both the stigma of her infamous ancestor and the trauma of her family's murder by the Gorn when she was a child.

She is struggling to come to terms with her heritage, but is shown to be making progress as she is less withdrawn from her shipmates and even becomes involved with Spock in Season 3.

Fanfiction

  • future's so bright (I gotta wear shades) [1] by Alsike (La'an/Una) - La'an may have escaped the Gorn, but after years in their possession, she is still waiting for them to take her back. Luckily, being rescued by Ensign Chin-Riley means that she has someone willing to keep rescuing her, even if it's from the monsters inside her own head. (2022)
  • No, I can't sleep (until I feel your touch) by muchadoaboutstartrek (La'an/Spock) - It wasn't anything that happened during the week really. Enterprise has been sent to deliver cerian suplies to several colonies, mostly medical and engineering. But something kept triggering her insomnia and it was driving her nuts that she couldn't identify what it was. (2022-2023)
  • Thursday Night Cooking School [2] by igrockspock (gen) - Una had always said that Captain Pike was the best captain in the fleet; she’d never mentioned that he was the friendliest captain in the fleet. Or that he’d be obsessed with food, and getting La'an to eat it.(2022)
  • The Untraveled World by igrockspock (La'an/James Kirk) - La'an is prepared for everything, except her crush on James Kirk. (2023)
