Christine Chapel served as the head nurse in the Mobile Combat Surgical Unit during the Klingon war. (Under the Cloak of War) After the war, she was civilian nurse on exchange from the Stanford Morehouse Epigenetic Project and was assigned to the USS Enterprise serving as CMO Joseph M'Benga's head nurse. She did research into archeological medicine.
She has a canonical relationship with Spock. But she broke up with him after an encounter with time-traveling ensigns from the future. (Those Old Scientists). She later accepted a fellowship and became involved with Roger Korby. (Wedding Bell Blues)
