FujoGuide Kickstarter: Two Weeks Left!

The Fujoshi Guide to Web Development is a series of zines/books featuring anthropomorphized versions of programming languages and concepts (aka gijinka), each one engineered from the ground up to cater to transformational fandom (that is, people who create fanfictions, fanarts, meta, and much more), and their sensibilities and interests.
In other words, we turned the most important topics in web development into hot, shippable blank-ish slate characters modeled after popular tropes in the "cast full of pretty boys"/otome genre. And now, we're going to use them to teach fans not just how to make their own websites, but how to use modern tools to collaborate with each other and breathe new life into the web we all inhabit.
We're over 89% funded with just under two weeks left to go! We're slowly but surely getting there- closer day-by-day. If you're waiting to back us until you get paid again, please hop over to the Kickstarter and click the handy "Remind Me" button, so you don't forget!
We've been really busy these last two weeks, so you might have missed out on some of the fun we've been having. Check the cut for summaries of the highlights!
Git's Birthday, Our First Fanworks, & Catboy Bathwater!
On April 7th, Git (the technology) turned 18 years old, and our catboy version consequently celebrated his 10010th birthday. Obviously, we held a birthday party for him on our social media!
Fans shared their birthday creations across all socials, but the best way to see the full collection is by perusing our Tumblr tag.
In honor of his birth, we announced our first add-on: a parody of the famous “gamer girl bath water” online happening (can you tell we love parodies?), and a fun way to add some sparkle to your desk, bookcase, or… bedside table, I guess?

You can see the hilarious full announcement on Tumblr, Twitter, or Mastodon
Unlocked Characters, Behind The Scenes, & Spotlight on Characters
Our Browserland characters HTML, CSS, and ARIA have made their full debuts, and their previously locked character cards have been fully unlocked on the Kickstarter!
We also published Shipping Our Cast, a behind the scenes look on how we managed to create a cast of hot, shippable characters who also proved to experienced developers we know what we were doing. You can see some of our behind the scenes documents, get some sneak peeks into unrevealed character facts, and see two SUPER SECRET UNREVEALED FUTURE FujoGuide Characters. Check out the posts on Tumblr, Twitter, and Mastodon.
And just today we dropped a Spotlight on Our localHost HQ Characters, where you can learn more about our favorite catboys, Git & GitHub, and their localhost HQ maid-pa, Terminal. (Tumblr, Twitter, and Mastodon)
Other Important Updates
- The Kickstarter now has stretch goals! Actually two sets of them!
- We have added an option for community copy add-ons! Community copies allow you to provide a copy of the zine to someone who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it. If you don't need a copy of the zine for yourself, you can donate your purchase of any digital or physical zine tier to community copies. You can find out more about community copies here.
- You can now do physical add-ons to a digital zine purchase with the GIT Digivolved Tier.
- We held our first Q&A on our social media sites. The easiest way to see all the questions is to check out the tumblr tag for the event.
- We also thought of some questions you might have and added those to our FAQs on the Kickstarter. If you have any others, feel free to drop us a message or comment!
If you haven't backed us yet, head over to the Kickstarter to find out more. For as little as $1 you can help bring the project to life, get updates on our progress, and access add-ons post-campaign via Backerkit.

Also, I'm enormously grateful to everyone on the project for creating a resource that enables more folks to make their own cyberspace platforms or pages. We desperately need that.
WE DID IT!!!
The Fujoshi Guide to Web Development is officially 100% funded.
Thanks so much to everyone who has backed us so far! Let's keep pushing for our stretch goals!
