It had wrinkled her nose, hands dancing across the dirt of her kimono as she tripped along the edge of a building.
Jin.
Running past the scant crowds, feet awkward as she attempted stealth.
Jin in love.
It was strange to think. But what else could it be?
He's in love.
Her emotionally immobile Jin. Battered. Stoic face cut much more deeply than she has ever seen it...
Because you're in love.
Back falling with a muffled grunt of pain along the wall, she sucked in a breath. He probably knew she was there. Following the sound of his steps, traipsing after him in her slick-less manner. Not that it mattered. Not that he cared.
Her Jin.
In love.
Mugen had claimed he was safe now, that she should be relieved. And she felt reassured of what she had been thinking for the past weeks. She really was...
But in following him as his hand gripped the coin purse, his face a settled determination...
Her Jin was in love and she was a fool.
Jin.

Albert was simple minded.
When he asked him...
What do you want?
...his reply would come easily in the spoiled undertones of his voice:
I want you.
Never anything specific. So he was careless, ever the esurient prince taking everything he gave him and he never thought to ask for anything with specificity.
It was always just...
I want you/to be with you/here with me/now
...And so he would find himself smiling and settling into the rhythmn of Albert's wants, handing him every little thing and rarely denying them to him.
Because Albert was so simple, so insistent...he kept himself beside him, arm always at the ready to reach out and pull the older boy from harm.
What do you want, Albert?
"Ask me for something."

"I want you to love me, Franz. I want you to stay always by my side."

He could part with her this easily, without allowing his tongue to slip between her perfect teeth and without more words than he was apt to wrap around his fumbling mind because he could hold her now. His hand, splayed across her lower back was confident rather than tense and the other hand behind her neck was a bit forceful as he held her. And he was content.
The heady scent of her perfume, her shampoo, her skin...just...her.
Eugénie.
She held a part of him now. In her nimble fingers that were able to cajole pain and love from ebony keys, she grasped the heart of him. And he had joyously let himself go. Gave up whatever he had been able to withhold and smiled.
Oh, he did love her. The strong voice and character, her heart-shaped face and clear eyes, the way she would hold his face, thumb brushing the birthmark near his eye. As he held her, he sighed and realized the fact he could let her grow away from him and feel only trace sadness...
It has to mean something.
Was because...
Albert laid one last soft kiss against her cheek and knew she loved him.
