The Star Father is a character mentioned in Fallout 2 and in the Fallout 4 DLC Nuka-World.

Background[edit]

The Star Father is worshiped by the Hubologists, who receive instructions from him via the founder of the religion, Dick Hubbell, or "The Hub."[1][2] Instead of "God," he is described as "the universal force from which we draw our energy, and to which we feed our energy in turn - again, a cyclical relationship."[3]

The Star Father has instructed the group to find and repair a spaceship in order to travel to the planet Quetzel, to live with him.[4] The Star Father has given the group the "glorious task" of returning to Earth afterward to rule mankind.[5]

In San Francisco, Hubologists had the same goal of building a spaceship, the ESS Quetzel, in order to travel to the Star Father.[6][7] They believe that he will protect them once they leave the Earth's atmosphere.[8][9] The Hubologists believe that their founder, Dick Hubbell, is not dead, but has instead joined the Star Father.[10] Hubbell is the author of a book titled Star Father Above.

  1. Hubologist teachings: "The common man found reason to doubt Hubology because of the distorted teachings of the media, and we had to wage a long campaign against those who would call us crackpots. During this time, sadly, the great Hub passed away. Bolstered by the knowledge that The Hub had achieved unity with the Star Father, helping to turn the cosmic wheel in our direction, attaining another level of consciousness, we remained confident in ourselves that ours was the true way."
  2. Hubologist teachings: "Uplifting: The time when the Star Father calls us home to Quetzel, where we meet our extra-terrestrial brethren and move closer to the hub of the Great Wheel. Those who have made an effort to understand and embrace the words of the Hub, no matter their AHS levels, will be invited to join the Star Father in the heavens on planet Quetzel."
  3. Hubologist teachings: "Star Father: Some would call the Star Father "God". We prefer to think of the Star Father as the universal force from which we draw our energy, and to which we feed our energy in turn - again, a cyclical relationship."
  4. Sole Survivor: "Why do you want to capture the spaceship?"
Dara Hubbell: "The Star Father left instructions with The Hub for us to find the ship and repair it. The Star Father will guide us to our new home on the planet Quetzal, where we will live with him. Praise be to the Star Father."
    (Dara Hubbell's dialogue)
  5. Sole Survivor: "What is this final mystery?"
Dara Hubbell: "The Star Father can free our minds of all restraints. We will be like gods, able to do unimaginable things. Then we will return to Earth to rule over mankind. It is a glorious task the Star Father has given us. Yes. We will end the scourge of neurodynes once and for all. The human race will reach it's full potential under our benevolent guidance."
    (Dara Hubbell's dialogue)
  6. Hubologist teachings: "Quetzel: The planet to which the Star Father will bring us when we have become Optimized, where we will meet with our starry brethren and join them on their flaming wheels in the sky."
  7. Hubologists computers: "{119}{}{[You spend about half an hour reading about the goals AHS-9 is trying to achieve. In addition to enlightenment and reunion with the Star Father, it appears that he's also got no qualms about destroying humans who weren't with him from the beginning. He's a little crazy.]}"
  8. Fallout 2 Endings: "The scientists, unable to figure out how to create an airtight seal on their ship, went ahead and launched it anyway, believing that the Star Father would protect them once they left earth's atmosphere. They perished in orbit."
  9. Fallout 2 Endings: "The scientists grew tired of waiting for the Star Father to come for them or provide the fuel they needed. Using a cheap derivative fuel, they launched an abortive effort to reach the stars themselves. Their shuttle exploded moments after take off."
  10. Chosen One: "{124}{}{Who cares if YOU endorse it? Shouldn't I make my own choices?}"
Juan Cruz and Vikki Goldman: "{127}{}{Her: Oh, yes, you should definitely make your own choices. Him: And with the Hub's latest book, you can learn how to make the RIGHT choice!}"
Chosen One: "{128}{}{His latest book? Isn't he dead?}"
Juan Cruz and Vikki Goldman: "{143}{}{Him: Dead? Ha ha! Perhaps. We like to think that he aligned all his neurodynes and went to join the Star Father. Her: We have extensive use of his jotted notes and barely-begun manuscripts to spread the word of the Hub. Him: For example, we found a scrap that said: "2 doz. eggs/Milk/TP". Obviously this is significant. It needs to be heard.}"
Chosen One: "{144}{}{Err... right. I have more questions.}"
