Rad-X is a chem in Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76.

Background[edit]

A potent anti-radiation medicine that bolsters the user's natural Radiation Resistance. Taking it prior to exposure is recommended, as it can greatly reduce irradiation, particularly when combined with advanced Radiation Suits.[Pub 1][2] Unlike most other chems, Rad-X is addiction-free, making it perfectly safe to use without risking the chance of addiction. Furthermore, the duration can be stacked if multiple doses are taken at once.

Publications[edit]

A preventative medicine for those intending to enter areas with heightened risk of radiation exposure. A dose can help you resist the effects of radiation, especially when combined with other protective measures. Due to scarcity, it is often found diluted, reducing the effectiveness of a dose but allowing limited supplies to last longer. Diluted Rad-X is about half as effective, but easier to find.Fallout: The Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook

Behind the Scenes[edit]

Rad-X was planned for inclusion in Van Buren. Additionally, the Scaven Pickers suffered from the effects of long-term Rad-X usage.[Doc 1]

Every red-blooded American knows that living in the nuclear age means that we're surrounded by healthy waves of atomic energy. Now although all of us know that radiation's warm glow is good for the brain, eyes, and skin, certain individuals of frailer constitution have been known to suffer some small health effects. That's why 9 out of 10 of my colleagues recommend a daily dose of Rad-X: America's preferred anti-rad medication. Rad-X bolsters your body's own radiation resistance!
