Behind the Scenes[edit]

On Twitter, Emil Pagliarulo said that Power Armor Training was a way to "fictionalize its use" and as a way to balance the armor, with Pagliarulo stating: "We introduce Power Armor early, but we didn't necessarily want the player to get it... and be too powerful, too quickly."[Dev 1]

  1. Question: "But yeah training makes sense it's extremely heavy and dangerous equipment, and has its own mini nuclear reactor powering it. Buzz from Nuka-World did attempt to steal PA, but said that it was really hard to operate and steer, ended up falling off a cliff. Again thank you sir 🙏🏻"
Emil Pagliarulo: "So you're talking the Power Armor training in Fallout 3? See, that's an interesting question, because although lots of folks are now discovering or re-playing F3 because of the TV show, for me, that's something I haven't really thought about in more than 15 years. lol

Now, that said, IF I remember correctly... (again, 15 years) it was a way to fictionalize its use, yeah. But also something we did for game balancing. We introduce Power Armor early, but we didn't necessarily want the player to get it... and be too powerful, too quickly."
