Kitty Hawk is a town in North Carolina, within the United States.

Kitty Hawk is mentioned as the location of the debut flight of the Wright Flyer I, created by Orville and Wilbur Wright. The Wright Flyer I was the first controlled and powered aircraft, successfully staying aloft for 12 seconds on December 17, 1903. This was the first sustained flight of its kind in human history.[1]

Kitty Hawk is based on the real world location of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Kitty Hawk became world-famous after the Wright brothers made the first controlled powered airplane flights at Kill Devil Hills, 4 miles (6 km) south of the town.
