02/20/2024 - For Immediate Release:
Zack Finfrock, creator and star of Fallout: Nuka Break, has begun production on a follow-up fan
film titled Fallout: Breaking. It continues the story of Twig; now clearly physically and
psychologically changed, carrying along his trusty Nuka Breaker as he once again searches for
happiness in the wasteland. This new film is a solo venture for Finfrock and not associated with
Wayside Digital, for already disclosed reasons. Zack is now at the helm co-directing this time,
along with his creative partner Peter Weidman.
Aiming to be one of the most game accurate fan films yet, Zack has been running a GoFundMe
to help produce this new short film. He teamed up with other Fallout content makers to borrow a
large collection of props and costumes directly from the recent Fallout games. This includes
Brian Curtain, of Infectious Design, and Bill Doran, of Punished Props Academy. Zack also had
props and costume parts 3D printed by The Next Decade to ensure game accuracy. He has also
recruited returning costuming talent from the original series. Katie Kahn has joined on to help
fabricate a new look for Twig by updating the Vault-Tec vault suit to match the more present
design of the newer games; as well as adding a few facial scars thanks to Fantom X
Prosthetics.
The campaign has surpassed $16k on its way to a $20k stretch goal with over 200 donations.
Having already completed 2 previous stretch goals ($10k for a choreographed fight scene and
$15k for a GCI Giant Mutant Insect scene) the current $20k goal is aiming for a practical ED-E
cameo.
With 3 full days of filming already complete, Zack has been able to share progress regularly on
the GoFundMe campaign, as well as posting updates often on Twitter/X.com. The goal of this
short fan film is to revisit one of the main characters from the original series over a decade since
its release, while also updating the look and tone to match the newer Fallout game. Twig has
survived the wasteland for almost 15 years, so getting the chance to revisit the character is
something Zack is very excited to share with those who enjoyed the original series.
Zack is not looking to compete with the approaching release of the Amazon Studios official
Fallout TV show, but rather wishes to live alongside it. Aiming for an early April release, the goal
is that old and new fans alike will get to experience a return of Nuka Break’s goofy and naive
vault dweller (although maybe not as naive anymore) in anticipation for the new TV show’s
official take on the post-apocalyptic franchise.
