Chuck Stodgers is a man found in the Broken Hills mine in Fallout 2.
Background[edit]
His in-game description describes him as a "dusty, sleepy-looking man" with "old fashioned clothes".[1] He states that he is the "greatest aeroplane pilot in the world!"[2] After crashing his plane, he took shelter in the Broken Hills mine to escape the explosion.[2] The fumes within the mine incapacitated him and placed him in a long sleep.[2]
If he is told about the New California Republic, he expresses shock over the world changing so much, subsequently fleeing from the mine.[3] The Chosen One can respond to his backstory with the reply "That sounds suspiciously like the premise of a pulp cartoon series," which he will agree with and then state that he has to see what happened to the world.[4]

- He can be found by walking directly into the rocks to the right of the Broken Hills mine entrance.
- With an Intelligence of less than 3, talking to Chuck will result on him stating that "the world has turned stupid," subsequently fleeing afterward.[5]
- 1000 XP is received for finding the secret room he is in.
- 500 XP is received if the Chosen One asks "Who are you?" to Chuck.
- The footlocker adjacent to him contains a chunk of Uranium Ore.

A community member has submitted an Easter Egg on this topic: Chuck Stodgers is a reference to the Armageddon 2419 A.D. protagonist, Buck Rogers. Both were trapped behind rocks in a mine where they were preserved for many years.[6][7]
