Ten years. It's been 10 years since I started doing these lists. And, for the last 2 and a 1/2 years, it's pretty much ALL I've been doing here. So I think, with this, I'm gonna close it out. Thanks for playing, and thanks for the birthday wishes...
1) A rainbow connection.
2) A very particular set of skills.
3) It all (and I want it now).
4) A maker-bot-made-maker-bot (repeat as needed).
5) An accurate roadmap for the future (an Atlas of Fate will suffice).
6) To be King of the Rat People. I’m tired of merely being their Archbishop.
7) For Occulus Rift to just stop.
8) To reprogram the simulator, so that it’s possible to save the ship.
3) A self-cleaning humidifier. A personal servant who will clean one for me will suffice.
4) To have thought of that perfect comeback at the time, not five minutes later.
5) To show them. To show them ALL.
6) A wacky, wonderful, wobbly widget for the kids to play with.
7) To be the one to discover the legendary Abominable Oyster.
8) Corn rows (agricultural, not the kind in my hair).
9) “A sharp thingee and an electrical plug” (submitted by my daughter, age 3).
10) The foresight to start writing one of these lists in advance instead of spending all damn morning on it on my birthday. Seriously, it’s only been 9 years…
So, I've been sitting on this for a little while now. I didn't want to say anything too early 'cause, well, one doesn't in a case like this. But everything looks good, so I'm ready to make the official announcement:
I couldn't be more excited. It's a really fun show, and the people I've met on the staff seem great. We don't start until next month some time, but I can't wait to get to it.
More news as events warrant, but for now, there is much rejoicing.
Last time there was an national election, I got so fed up with the Republican Lies that I made a game about it.
This time, I (and a few of my likewise frustrated friends) have started a Twitter feed.
You can find it at @ProgressPoints on Twitter. We're a source for short, succinct, easily digestible talking points and sound bites promoting progressive ideas--as well as taking a bite out of Republican lies.
If you're on Twitter and this is your sort of thing, please follow us, retweet us, or otherwise help promote us. We're trying to get messages out there, so the more who hear it the better.
My newest game is now live for Earth Day: Garbage Dreams, based on the award winning documentary film. Think of it as Recycling Tycoon.
I'm particularly proud of this one, as it was my project from start to finish. I wasn't just a hired gun. I conceived, designed, and produced the game from top to bottom (working with some very talented friends, I might add).
Anywho, it's live and they're pushing it big for Earth Day, so go play, spread the word, pass it along.
Also, for those curious, the documentary Garbage Dreams airs on PBS April 27th.
Next time, space zombies! Or possibly a water management sim. Too early to know for sure yet...
