What I Want for My Birthday- The Final Episode

Ten years. It's been 10 years since I started doing these lists. And, for the last 2 and a 1/2 years, it's pretty much ALL I've been doing here. So I think, with this, I'm gonna close it out. Thanks for playing, and thanks for the birthday wishes...

1) A rainbow connection.

2) A very particular set of skills.

3) It all (and I want it now).

4) A maker-bot-made-maker-bot (repeat as needed).

5) An accurate roadmap for the future (an Atlas of Fate will suffice).

6) To be King of the Rat People. I’m tired of merely being their Archbishop.

7) For Occulus Rift to just stop.

8) To reprogram the simulator, so that it’s possible to save the ship.

9) A few of my favorite things.

10) A mic to drop.

What I Want For My Birthday

1) Mutant powers (Cool ones. Not dumb ones. Also, nothing ugly).

2) A pause button.

3) A self-cleaning humidifier. A personal servant who will clean one for me will suffice.

4) To have thought of that perfect comeback at the time, not five minutes later.

5) To show them. To show them ALL.

6) A wacky, wonderful, wobbly widget for the kids to play with.

7) To be the one to discover the legendary Abominable Oyster.

8) Corn rows (agricultural, not the kind in my hair).

9) “A sharp thingee and an electrical plug” (submitted by my daughter, age 3).

10) The foresight to start writing one of these lists in advance instead of spending all damn morning on it on my birthday. Seriously, it’s only been 9 years…

What I Want for My Birthday

1) A personal assistant who is willing to change diapers, preferably with a Bond girl’s name.

2) An app for that. No, not that, the other thing…

3) To be your sledgehammer. I am prepared to be your socket wrench in a pinch.

4) A Lil’ Tramp stamp.

5) A modern model of a very major general.

6) A verdict in the long-delayed People v. Video murder trial. The Radio Star’s family deserves justice.

7) .rorrim wen A

8) To live (and die) a Pirate King.

9) A picture of Nathan Fillion holding twine (not for me, for a friend).

10) To be a better husband, father, and friend. At least a better one than that asshole up the block. Seriously, what’s that guy’s problem? Sheesh.

Leverage!

My first ever episode of Leverage airs tonight! 9 PM on TNT.

I am, needless to say, very excited.

Special thanks to the entire cast and amazing crew, especially director P.J. Pesce who was an absolute delight to work with.

Hope y'all enjoy!

What I Want for my Birthday

1) An Oscar race that’s an actual race. Like with cars. Or maybe running from bulls.

2) The world on a string (a ring-world on a string will also suffice).

3) iPajamas

4) To know who actually says “po-tah-to”

5) A novelization of my life, preferably written by that Richard Marcinko guy…

6) A 141 character Twitter hack (that last period always gets me).

7) A muse of fire that would ascend the brightest heaven of invention.

8) A better merchandising deal.

9) The idol! Then I’ll give you the whip.

10) A time for every purpose under heaven (though I will settle for time to do my taxes…)

Job News

So, I've been sitting on this for a little while now. I didn't want to say anything too early 'cause, well, one doesn't in a case like this. But everything looks good, so I'm ready to make the official announcement:

I got offered a new job last month...

...as a staff writer on Leverage!

I couldn't be more excited. It's a really fun show, and the people I've met on the staff seem great. We don't start until next month some time, but I can't wait to get to it.

More news as events warrant, but for now, there is much rejoicing.

Thought y'all'd want to know. :)

Fighting Back

Last time there was an national election, I got so fed up with the Republican Lies that I made a game about it.

This time, I (and a few of my likewise frustrated friends) have started a Twitter feed.

You can find it at @ProgressPoints on Twitter. We're a source for short, succinct, easily digestible talking points and sound bites promoting progressive ideas--as well as taking a bite out of Republican lies.

If you're on Twitter and this is your sort of thing, please follow us, retweet us, or otherwise help promote us. We're trying to get messages out there, so the more who hear it the better.

Garbage Dreams: The Game!

My newest game is now live for Earth Day: Garbage Dreams, based on the award winning documentary film. Think of it as Recycling Tycoon.

I'm particularly proud of this one, as it was my project from start to finish. I wasn't just a hired gun. I conceived, designed, and produced the game from top to bottom (working with some very talented friends, I might add).

Anywho, it's live and they're pushing it big for Earth Day, so go play, spread the word, pass it along.

Also, for those curious, the documentary Garbage Dreams airs on PBS April 27th.

Next time, space zombies! Or possibly a water management sim. Too early to know for sure yet...

What I Want for My Birthday

1) Wizard Class Features. Seriously, Mage Hand and Prestidigitation are the most valuable things a new parent could possibly ask for.

2) A functional Congress.

3) To have a Mr. Potatohead based on me (they'd call it Fry-jitas).

4) My every whim catered to. My every wish granted will also suffice.

5) Google Dishwasher (don't tell me they're not working on it...)

6) Certain assurances.

7) Two extra arms.

8) YOU CAN'T HANDLE WHAT I WANT!!!!!

9) A new nemesis. Vin Diesel is so 2005.

10) Sleeeeeeeepppzzzzz............
